CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: 2017 MATSUMAE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM, JAPAN

The Matsumae International Foundation in Japan is a non-government organization that gives a total of 20 fully-funded Fellowships to non- Japanese nationals per year to undertake studies and research, particularly in the fields of natural science, engineering and medicine, at any Japanese University.

Proposed Fellowships in Japan must be between 3 months to 6 months, where the commencing month and ending month of the application is between April 2017 to March 2018.

Eligibility criteria: 1. Applicant must hold a recognizable Ph.D degree. 2. Applicants must be 49 years old or under. 3. Applicants must have sufficient conversational ability in English or Japanese. 4. Applicants should not have been in Japan in the past and/or in the present. 5. Applicants should have firm positions and professions in their home countries. 6. Applicants must be of sound health to carry out research in Japan.

2016 New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Samoa are now accepting applications from Samoan citizens for the 2016 New Zealand Commonwealth Scholarships under the Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowship Plan (CSFP)

The two (2) Scholarships are for Masters level study in New Zealand commencing in February 2017.

Specific Eligibility Criteria:

-Must be a Samoan citizen (NZ Dual citizenships are eligible); -Must have resided in Samoa for 2 consecutive years at the time of application; -Previous scholarship holders must have served out all Bond obligations to Government of Samoa at the time of application; -Priority will be given to HRD needs for the development of Samoa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Samoa is now accepting applications from Samoan citizens for the 2017 Open Category Scholarships for Awards tenable in Australia, New Zealand and the region.

Priority is given to studies that meet National HRD Priority needs and to those applicants who are able to demonstrate leadership ability and potential. NUS Foundation Level students are not eligible to apply.

Eligibility: 1. Must be applying for a new course of study and not seeking support for a course they have already commenced; 2. Must be applying for an upgrade of the highest qualification; 3. Samoa citizens holding NZ citizenship are eligible for NZ Awards only. Those applying for the NZ Quota are ineligible. 4. Samoa citizens holding citizenship of other developed countries (including American Samoa, Australia) are ineligible to apply for Australia or New Zealand Government funded Award. These citizens are eligible to apply for the Government of Samoa (DFL) Awards. 5. Must have served at least 2 years bond at time of application, and must sign a Government Bond prior to departure for study; 6. Must be currently employed and have worked for more than 2 years; 7. Applicant must complete the Preliminary Application Form – Step 1, before proceeding to the next stages of the Open Category Process.
