HOW COLLEGE STUDENTS CAN IMPROVE THEIR SLEEP HABITS

College life can be tough: all the studying, assignments, class room projects and partying can leave you drained out and leave little time for sleep. Getting eight hours of sleep per night as a college student seems more difficult than getting into college in the first place.

You are probably counting the days till your next vacation when you can switch off your alarm and snooze buttons and get those much deserved Zzz’s. Till then, if you are sleep deprived and need help getting organized, here’s some advice:

1. Learn to say NO: You do not have to complete your friend’s assignment every time he or she asks. Have a grasp on your own priorities and passions before you set out to help others. You will not be considered selfish if you choose to be empowered by your own goals. Instead, you will be more focused about where you want to go in life. Plus, when you take care of yourself first, you will have more energy to be there for your friends.

Hey, what’s your salary? A faculty member of one of the colleges of KU has earned the reputation of being overly welcoming towards new joinees. More than extending overfriendliness towards new joinees, what irks other faculty members is how this faculty cleverly tries to extract salary details of the new joinee. Yes, that’s the motive behind all the friendliness, reveals another faculty. “It’s almost as if this faculty lives to know other people’s salary! The faculty takes the initiative to give a campus tour to new joinees and almost as soon as it begins, the faculty asks the joinee what his or her salary is. If it’s less than this faculty’s salary, it is okay, otherwise you should see what a fuss the faculty creates with the director for the following few days!”

Straight Professor Phobia The fly on the wall recently overheard two female students talking about their new faculty in the design college. Here’s how the conversation went: Student 1: Hey, the new faculty joined yesterday when you were absent Student 2: How is he? Student 1: He’s super straight! Student 2: Like, really straight? Student 1: Yeah, scary straight! Well, we’ll leave you to figure out what these two meant by “scary” straight! COMPETE Plus 18 EVENTS
