Chairman’s Message Ushering in New Changes Malaysia’s energy supply industry is being programmed on an evolution in order to align itself with this national mission and has also interwoven such initiatives with the Economic Transformation Plan (ETP) and National Green Technology Master Plan. The aim of ETP in achieving liberalisation, however, is to warrant fair play among competitors whilst pushing the agenda on energy efficiency. In line with this proclaimed objective, the Malaysian energy supply industry has successfully completed Regulatory Period 1 under the Incentive-Based Regulation (IBR) framework and has just entered Regulatory Period 2 which has deliberately incorporated special elements to further enhance our green initiatives. Amongst others, we would highlight the provision for the introduction of automated metering interfaces which would facilitate the roll-out of smart meters to all consumer segments and a special allocation to cater for conversion to the LED fittings on a significant portion of street lighting. These examples would invariably encroach into the lifestyles of the general populations, which were previously exposed he nation is moving towards green energy only to indirect involvement. development in line with the pledge made at the T 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference It is hoped that these initiatives would initiate (COP 21). Automatic circuit breaker switches found in the electrical distribution board in your home are to protect you and your family from the dangers of electric shock. Ensure that the automatic circuit breaker sensitivity does not exceed 100 mA or 0.1 A and is tested at least once a month to ensure that it always functions satisfactorily. A simple way to test the automatic circuit breaker is to press the test button (marked ‘T’). An automatic circuit breaker switch that works well will trip when the test button is pressed and you can restore the switch to its original position. If the automatic circuit breaker switch does not trip after the test button is pressed, you should immediately consult a Registered Electrical Contractor for inspection and replacement of the automatic circuit breaker switch. If you are using an electric water heater in the bathroom, make sure that the automatic circuit breaker switch with a sensitivity of not exceeding 10 mA or 0.01 A is installed in the water heater circuit. • Eagle Energy Storage - Answers to Questions and Clarifications Raised at Greenburgh Town Board Meeting 12/9/20
Eagle Energy Storage - Answers to Questions and Clarifications Raised at Greenburgh Town Board Meeting 12/9/20 1. Estimated Property Tax/Benefits to Town Supervisor Feiner and many other parties asked about the financial benefits to the town, and how much property tax the energy storage system would ultimately pay. Property taxes applicable to the project will ultimately be determined by the tax code and the judgement of the Town Assessor. Our team estimates that the project may ultimately pay $30k-$50k per year in property taxes over the life of the project (up to $1.5mm over 30 years). The actual number will be determined in coordination with the Town Assessor. 2. Storms/Trees Causing Line Outages A Town Councilperson asked what would happen if the lines between the battery and the Elmsford substation went down. We wanted to confirm that the battery project could in no way negatively impact the Town’s power supply. In the event of an outage between the battery system and the Knollwood substation the battery would safely be placed into a non-operational mode, and Con Edison’s grid would function (or not function) exactly the same as if the system were not present. When the battery is operational, it should help to stabilize the grid and increase reliability on a grid-wide level. The proposed overhead electrical lines will generally be located away from branches which could impact the lines. Where the project proposes to connect to existing poles, the branches will be trimmed, in-line with other local utilities. 3. Selling Energy to the Public A member of the Planning Board stated that “[the project] has no intention of selling energy to the public.” This is not accurate.

At present, renewable energy is already considered to be an important focus within the country’s low emissions strategy particularly through the enforcement of the Renewable Energy Act 2011. However, the scope of this Act is inadequate to include energy from the sea as it is confined only to eligible renewable energy sources under the feed-in tariff scheme. The objective of this paper is to highlight the legal and regulatory requirements governing marine renewable energy development in Malaysia particularly in sustainably capturing tidal and wave potential. As an alternative, this paper explores the viability of ocean energy as another source of renewable energy. The paper adopts a doctrinal approach and suggests some measures within the law and policy which when considered would help towards the development of marine renewable energy. The authors recommend for Malaysia to adopt the Nova Scotia’s legal framework. This model could well be applied provided that there is a strong political will and policy drivers to achieve the national objectives in accelerating renewable energy sector, particularly from marine sources.
