THE 2015 V8 SUPERCARS GRID The return of Marcos Ambrose means that 3all bar one of the 10 Clipsal 500 victors from the event’s 16-year history will be on the grid for the 2015 event. Craig Lowndes (1999), Garth Tander (2000, 2010), Jason Bright (2001), Ambrose (2004, 2005), Jamie Whincup (2006, 2008, 2009, 2011), Rick Kelly (2007), Will Davison (2012), Shane van Gisbergen (2013) and James Courtney (2014) will line up among the 25-car field. The only other Clipsal 500 winner, Mark Skaife (2002, MARCOS AMBROSE SET 2003), will also be in Adelaide as part of the FOX Sports FOR CLIPSAL 500 RETURN TV team. V8 Supercars Clipsal 500 I Did You Know 5 The new model Ford Falcon FG X makes its 4racing debut at the Clipsal 500 and the new car desperately needs to make an impact and stop Holden’s recent domination of the event. Ford has won just one of the last 11 individual races in Adelaide from 2010 onwards.     B Manawatu Car Club Inc Magazine October 2020 Page 1 of 54 EDITORSPEAK… email: [email protected] After bashing my head against a brick wall with Auckland Transports “sledgehammer to crack a nut” approach to road safety, I’m heartened to see that the proposed speed limit changes in the local Manawatu area (submissions closed early last month) seem to have been proposed in a considered and commonsense manner and in some cases go contrary to current NZTA recommendations. Obviously lowering speed limits or having a flexible limit around schools is a no brainer, but, for example, not lowering the limit on the Pahiatua Track to below 80kph seems to indicate that whoever was responsible has a pretty good handle on the realities of travelling on rural and semi-rural Manawatu roads. Well done that bloke/blokess, let’s hope the submission process doesn’t overturn these totally sensible options. The final round of the FAE Winter series proved to be a game of two halves. Run under Covid restrictions it became a 2-day affair like the first round, and the weather went from a beautiful sunny Saturday to a wet and average Sunday. Of course the MX5’s got to run on Sunday!! Waking up to the sound of rain wasn’t promising, though a quick look at the forecast on my phone revealed it clearing from 9.00am. Quite simply, they lied. A massive contrast to my trip down from Auckland the previous day, Tee shirt, sun streaming down from a clear blue sky, the mountains looking magnificent cloaked in white….
