Entry Point North Group offers a wide portfolio of training and services to aspiring and operational air traffic controllers, air traffic service officers, air traffic safety electronics personnel, administrative personnel and other aviation-related personnel. Our premier training solutions are carried out in accordance with Best Practice and all international rules and standards including ICAO and European Commission.

Entry Point Central is one of five training sites under Entry Point North Group. It was founded in May 2011 by HungaroControl (the Hungarian Air Navigation Service Provider) and Entry Point North. Entry Point Central delivers various ATC training, English training and other courses to both Hungarian and international students.

We would like to assist you during your time at Entry Point Central to make it convenient and memorable. This student guide presents practical information about our academy, facilities and local transport, and provides some tips for your stay in .

x4 TRAINING WITHOUT BOUNDARIES TRANSPORT TO ENTRY POINT CENTRAL FROM BUDAPEST LISZT FERENC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT By bus From the airport you can take bus 200E (towards Kőbánya- M), a journey that takes approximately 15 minutes. Tickets may be bought in ticket machines at the bus stop or directly from the bus driver.

Get off at bus stop “Szemeretelep vasútállomás”, follow the main road (Ferihegyi Repülőtérre Vezető u.) for another 50 meters and turn right into Igló u. After 300 meters you will see the HungaroControl premises on your right hand side.

By car Entry Point Central’s academy premises are located approximately 7 kilometres northwest from Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport, a journey that usually takes less than 10 minutes. When driving from the airport, follow signs for Budapest/Centrum/Route 4/Liszt Ferenc 1/Repülőtér and merge onto Route 4. After 5.1 kilometres go slightly right onto Ferihegyi Repülőtérre Vezető út and after another 500 meters turn right onto Igló u. For information concerning parking see the section ‘Parking’ on the following page.

By taxi It costs approximately 3500 HUF* for 1-4 people to take a taxi from Budapest airport to Entry Point Central’s academy.

FROM BUDAPEST CITY CENTER By subway/bus/train Getting to Entry Point Central from Budapest city centre takes approximately 50-60 minutes. From one of the subway stations on the M3 line take a subway train towards Kőbánya-Kispest M (régi) all the way to the terminal station (Kőbánya-Kispest M). From there take bus 200E towards Liszt Ferenc International Airport and get off at bus stop “Szemeretelep vasútállomás”. Head northwest on Gyömrői u. (in the direction the bus came from) and after about 40 meters turn right into Igló u. After some 300 meters you will see the Entry Point Central (HungaroControl) premises on your right hand side. Please see the map on the previous page.

You can also take the train from Nyugati Train station to Szemeretelep train station and then it is a short walk from there (see the description in the paragraph above). The train runs every half hour. Time tables, prices, etc. can be found online. elvira.mav-start.hu/elvira.dll/xsl2/uf

ENTRY POINT CENTRAL - ATS ACADEMY 5x By car If you travel by car, you should follow directions for Liszt Ferenc Airport. Entry Point Central is situated near Terminal 1. From the city centre, drive along Route 4, until you see signs for RS Bútoráruház/Sárkány Center – then go slightly right onto Gyömrői út and after about 3.5 kilometres turn left onto Igló u. The journey takes 20-30 minutes, depending on the traffic. For information concerning parking see the section ‘Parking’ on this page.

By taxi It costs approximately 6000 HUF* for 1-4 people to take a taxi from Budapest city centre to Entry Point Central academy.

PARKING In case you plan to arrive to Entry Point Central by car, you are able to park your car right in front of the building in a separated parking area which is free of charge. It is secured from 6.00 to 20.00. You do not need a permit to park your car there.

GETTING AROUND AT ENTRY POINT CENTRAL BUILDING DESCRIPTION Entry Point Central offers modern training facilities including a simulator room, offices, a kitchen, a conference room, a classroom and a library.

Access to internet Access to our wireless network is available everywhere in the building. Additionally, we offer PCs with internet connection for free use by students.

x6 TRAINING WITHOUT BOUNDARIES Classrooms All classrooms are equipped with a computer, a projector and access to the internet as well as the internal network.

Library There is a library containing aviation related material and magazines. It also offers PCs with internet access.

Kitchen The academy has a small kitchen. It can be used by both students and personnel. It is equipped with microwave ovens, refrigerator, plates and tableware etc.

Conference room There is a conference room equipped with whiteboard and a projector with access to both the internet and the internal network.

Common spaces There are areas equipped with sofas and tables for communal use. All trainees and instructors have the possibility of using a locker for personal belongings.

Doctor There is a doctor´s office at the HungaroControl premises. If you need to see the doctor, please contact Entry Point Central’s office.

Building security The building is locked for your safety. Upon your arrival at the academy, you will receive a badge that enables you to get in and out. You will need to bring your passport or internationally accepted ID card with you and show it to the reception in order to receive your badge. The reception (manned by HungaroControl) is open 24/7.

FOOD & REFRESHMENTS There is a restaurant at Entry Point Central that serves warm dishes and salads for about 1200 HUF* (around 4 EUR) and a daily menu for 700 HUF* (around 2.30 EUR). There is also a small convenience store and a cafe, if you prefer a quick lunch or just a snack. There are fridges and microwave ovens in Entry Point Central‘s kitchen if you prefer to bring your own lunch.

8x TRAINING WITHOUT BOUNDARIES HOUSE RULES Please remember that many people – students, consultants and permanent staff – share the space within the building. In order for everyone to feel comfortable, we have simple house rules that we ask everyone to abide by.

Kitchen areas are provided for eating and drinking. Bringing food and 1 drinks into the classrooms is at the discretion of the course supervisors. Please note: food and drinks are never permitted in the simulation areas.

Don’t forget to take your belongings when leaving the classrooms and 2 simulators. Rearrange the chairs, tables and equipment back to the way you found them. Please place litter in the bins.

Dispose of all empty paper coffee cups in the bins provided. Keep the 3 kitchen area clean and tidy: wipe up food or drink spillages and wash dirty plates and cutlery.

The classroom computers are used for lessons only and are not intended for general internet surfing. Personal internet usage may be carried out 4 using the student computers provided or the computers in the computer room when they are available.

5 Be on time for lessons, simulator exercises and other common activities. Come prepared for the session. Bring with you the things you may need.

Switch off your mobile phone or put it in silent mode silent during 6 lessons, as mobile phone signals can cause interference to simulators nearby. Always switch off your phone when you are in the simulator.

7 Leave any outdoor clothes in the designated area or in your locker.

Please do not put your feet or dirty shoes on the tables or sofas. Sleeping 8 is not allowed in the sofas.

9 Pets are not allowed in the academy.

ENTRY POINT CENTRAL - ATS ACADEMY 9x IN CASE OF EMERGENCY EVACUATION INSTRUCTIONS All course supervisors, teachers, instructors, employees and students at Entry Point Central are expected to know about preventive fire protection and what is required of them if there is a fire alarm or they discover a fire.

When working and studying at Entry Point Central you must always be able to locate the nearest emergency exit and escape route, the nearest fire extinguisher and the assembly point. >> You must leave the building through the nearest emergency exit or escape route. >> You must head to the assembly point and check if everybody from your team escaped safely. Report to your teacher or instructor if somebody is missing and wait at the assembly point for further instructions. Instructors and teachers report the student status to the course supervisor. The course supervisor reports to the responsible person in the yellow vest or his/her helper. It is the responsibility of all to help each other, check that the fire alarm is noticed, and check the area close to you. However, do not risk your own life.

10x TRAINING WITHOUT BOUNDARIES LIVING IN BUDAPEST PRACTICALITIES Currency exchange, money transfer and banks Most restaurants, bars and shops accept credit cards (Master, VISA, American Express, etc.), but it is recommended to always have cash with you as well. The Hungarian currency is the Forint (“Ft” or “HUF”), the current approximate exchange rate to buy Forint: 1 EUR = 309 HUF (in January 2018). Prices such as hotel rates, sightseeing tours, etc. are often quoted in Euros and many businesses including some supermarkets accept Euros.

ATMs are easy to find in Budapest and there are many options for exchanging cash as well. Most often, currency exchange kiosks are located in touristic areas or shopping malls. Currency exchange is also available at banks at a surcharge.

Mobile phone number Many supermarkets, petrol stations and kiosks sell “Top-up” mobile subscriptions without lengthy commitment. Check the shops for the best suitable solution for you. In Hungary, there are three main mobile service providers: Telekom, Telenor and Vodafone. Their shops can be found in almost every big shopping mall so you can also ask for a “Top-up” directly there. Tipping culture Tipping is very much part of the culture in Hungary and most people will routinely tip waiters, taxi drivers, etc., if satisfied. A regular tip in restaurants and bars would be 10% - 15% of the bill.

LOCAL TRANSPORT Subway system Budapest’s subway system is the oldest electrified underground railway system in the European continent, and the second-oldest in the world. Information regarding timetable, prices, etc. can be found online. www.bkv.hu/en/

On public holidays and during weekends the public transport services operate on a different schedule than on weekdays, so it is best to check the timetables before your departure.

ENTRY POINT CENTRAL - ATS ACADEMY 11x THINGS TO DO Budapest is Hungary’s political, cultural, commercial, industrial and transport centre with a population of 1.7 million people. Budapest is full of thermal baths, museums, shops, nightclubs and restaurants and there are plenty of things to do as the city offers many sightseeing possibilities as well as cultural events.

The city came into existence by unifying three former cities (Pest, Buda and Óbuda) in 1873. Currently it can still be geographically divided into two main parts (Buda and Pest) and one historic district: >> Buda - The hilly West side of the Danube >> Castle Hill - District I of Buda, the oldest part of the city containing the eponymous Castle and many of Budapest’s best-known attractions (such as the Fishermen’s Bastion, Labyrinth and the Mathias Church) >> Pest - The flat East side of the Danube, covering the modern commercial core of the city

Many shops and international stores can be found at Váci utca (Váci street) right next to Vörösmarty tér (Vörösmarty square). Váci utca is a fashion street, for everyday shopping (groceries etc.) there are many supermarkets in shop- ping centres. The biggest shopping centres of the city are the “WestEnd City Center” (on the Pest side), “Mammut” and “Allee” (both on the Buda side). In the city you can also find small convenience stores at almost every corner.

Restaurants You can find a large variety of restaurants in Budapest, serving both international dishes and traditional . If you wish to try traditional Hungarian food, some of the most popular restaurants are:

Zeller Bistro - Pest, District VII, Izabella utca 38 This small restaurant situated in the cellar of a normal apartment house offers a refreshing, modernised Hungarian menu. Being highly rated on TripAdvisor, it is recommended that you book your table in advance.

Paprika Restaurant - Pest, District VII, Dózsa György út 72 Traditional Hungarian restaurant popular with the locals. ‘Gulyásleves’ (goulash soup), served with white farmer’s bread, and the ‘Halászlé’ (fish soup), served in little cauldrons, are their specialties. Aside from the hearty soups, they serve a lot of pork dishes, a good variety of poultry dishes and a few game and fish dishes to choose from. If you’re looking for a down-to-earth, traditional Hungarian meal, Paprika Vendéglő is definitely worth checking out.

Lugas Restaurant - Pest, District VI., Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út 15/A This restaurant is located in the heart of Budapest with a traditional and tasty Hungarian cuisine. Cosy and very good value-for-money restaurant just next to the Saint Stephan Basilica.

Menza Restaurant - Pest, District VI, Liszt Ferenc tér 2. This restaurant is located on Liszt Ferenc Square and is ideal for a nice lunch during sightseeing. The service is fast and friendly and it has a modern bistro atmosphere. The traditional menu lists Hungarian and international dishes, the portions are large, and the daily lunch menu is reasonably priced.
