Longleat 10K & 2 Mile Run Sunday 7th February, 2016 – Start Time 9am

Thank you for your entry into the Longleat 10K. We would like your day to go smoothly, and be as enjoyable as possible and would ask you to read the details below carefully.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ENTRANCE TO LONGLEAT FOR 2016

The Longleat Estate has decided to open the Park one week earlier than planned to coincide with Chinese New Year Celebrations. This means that the Estate Attractions will be open and you will be able to visit the House and Gardens after the race. Runners with a race number and those travelling in the same car arriving before 9am will not be charged to get in and you should show your race number at the kiosk as you drive in. START TIME

As the Estate will be open to the public we have brought the start time forward to 9am and you should aim to arrive and park no later than 8.30am.

The 2 miles will start at approx. 9.05am after the final 10km runners have crossed the start line.

Please note that it is no longer allowed to take Dogs onto the Longleat Estate.

DIRECTIONS BY CAR

Longleat Safari & Adventure Park is just off the A36 between Bath and Salisbury (A362 road).

From the South East: M3 (J8) - A303 - A36 towards Bath – Longleat is just off the A362 between Warminster and Frome.

From the South West: A303 in a London direction – A350 towards Warminster – A36 towards Bath – Longleat is just off the A362 between Warminster and Frome.

From the North: M4 (J18) – A46 towards Bath – A36 towards Salisbury – Longleat is just off the A362 between Warminster and Frome.

Please ignore the Sat Nav voice as you approach Longleat and follow the brown tourist signposts.

Car Parking Drive past the front of Longleat House and follow the signs and instructions given by marshals and car park attendants. There is no cost for runners and spectators to enter the Longleat Estate on race day.

Directions by Train The nearest train station, Warminster, is approximately 5 miles from Longleat. Warminster is on the Cardiff to Portsmouth line. For details on train times please contact the National Rail Enquiry Line on 08457 484950. We advise you check the Sunday timetable in case of engineering works on the day of the event.

Toilets The toilet blocks can be found in front of the Tropical Storm restaurant in the main square as well as in the restaurant and in the Stable yard. There are no toilets at the start line.

Please note there are no changing or shower facilities available so arrive in your running kit.

Race Administration/Information/Timing Chip Your race number with the timing chip on the back is included in this pack.

Your number must be secured by 4 safety pins to the Front of your top. There is no need to register on the day.

Your timing will start when you cross the sensor mats which will be laid across the start line.

An information and administration tent will be located at the start line.

Baggage Baggage can be left in the tent located at the start at the owner’s risk.

The Start The start assembly area is at the bottom end of Lodge Drive facing the front of Longleat House. It is approx 5 mins walk from the car park to the start so leave plenty of time to get there. We will be operating voluntary seeding to help make your start as smooth and safe as possible.

There will be placards placed at intervals along the start area road indicating sub 6, sub 7, sub 8, sub 9, sub 10 minute mile pace. Please line up at a time slot that equates to your predicted running speed, this will ensure there is minimum passing in the first kilometre.

9am Start – the route is three loops starting with the 3km High Woods/Bath Arms Loop followed by Safari Park Loop and finishing with the High Woods/Bath Arms loop with the final stretch downhill along Lodge Drive towards the House.

9.05am - The route for the 2 Miles is the same as the opening loop for the 10km – runners should keep to the left after the Gate House at the top of Lodge Drive and finish after crossing under the blue arch.

T-Shirts The special Longleat 10km 10th Anniversary T-shirt will be available for purchase from the Admin Tent by the start for £12. This Technical Fabric T-shirt is available in Male & Female cuts in small, medium, large and extra large sizes.

Dogs We regret that due to new conditions set by the Longleat Estate dogs are no longer allowed on the Longleat Estate. Runners will NO LONGER be able to run the race with their dogs.

Traffic The race is on private roads of the Longleat Estate except for a short section through Village. The route is designed to avoid conflict with car drivers arriving at the car parks as far as possible. However, there will be traffic from general visitors to the estate from approx 10am as the park will be open to tourist visitors this year - please be extra vigilant and look out for cars on the route.

Drinks Stations Water will be available at 5km and at the finish.

Finish/Timing Chip The finish is a very spectacular 1km run down the Lodge Drive finishing on the drive just before Longleat House. There is no need to hand back the timing chip at the end – it is a single use chip.

Medal, Prizes and Presentations All finishers will receive a commemorative medal at the end of the finish funnel.

Prizes will be awarded to the following: First 5 Male and Female in 10km. First Veterans M/F V40, V45, V50, V55, V60 in 10km. First 3 Male and Females in the 2 Miles.

Runners can only win one prize. Presentations of prizes will be made be in the Finish Area at approximately 10.30.

Refreshments Tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks will be available for purchase in the Tropical Storm Restaurant.

Litter and Grass Areas Please do not drop litter along the course or anywhere on the estate grounds as it is dangerous for deer and wildlife. We also ask that you keep off all taped grass areas.

Race results & Photography We will be able to view your time and position on the day via a finish line computer TV link. Full results and photography will be available from Monday morning by logging onto www.209event.com.

T-Shirts & Retail If you ordered a t-shirt as part of the entry process you will have a voucher enclosed – please take your voucher to the admin tent to collect your t-shirt on the day.

We will have a limited number of additional t-shirts for sale at £10 each and will also have a Beanie Hat and gloves offer at £5 set.
