Subject: Action Required: New Simon Vaccination Status Form due July 9

Greetings from Rochester! As we look forward to welcoming you to campus in the coming weeks, I wanted to provide some updates regarding vaccinations, mask wearing, and other important topics.

The health and safety of our incoming students—and the entire Simon community—is our number one priority as we begin the new academic year. We have great care and concern for your personal wellbeing and safety, and preventive measures, such as mandating the COVID-19 vaccine, will not only protect the collective health of our school community and the campus at large, but it will also help to ensure we can continue offering the in-person learning experience and co-curricular activities that we all desire.

You recently received a message from Dr. Manchester, vice provost and director of UHS, providing clarification on the vaccine requirements as of August 1, but because the majority of you are arriving before that date, there will be some Simon-specific guidelines we will adhere to in the interim. Most importantly, if you have not already received a CDC or WHO approved vaccine or an approved exemption from the University, we ask that you get your COVID-19 vaccination within three days of your arrival to Rochester (or the US) in an effort to protect the health and safety of all of our incoming students, returning students, staff, and faculty. If you have received a COVID-19 vaccine that is not approved by the CDC or WHO, follow up with UHS for guidance on receiving your approved vaccine.

Keep in mind that some vaccine courses require two doses spaced by three or four weeks, and you aren’t considered fully vaccinated until two weeks after your final dose. That means if you got your first vaccine within a few days of arriving, it could still be up to six weeks before you’re considered fully vaccinated and able to be indoors unmasked.

Here are several community locations where you can obtain your COVID-19 vaccination free of charge:

• CVS (1431 Mount Hope Avenue in College Town)—walking distance to graduate on-campus housing; can schedule an appointment or walk in • Walgreens (1650 Elmwood Avenue)—can schedule an appointment or walk in • Walgreens (1575 Mount Hope Avenue)—can schedule an appointment or walk in • (any Rochester location)—walk in

COVID-19 vaccines are very accessible in Rochester. You have the option to schedule your appointment before you even arrive, or you can just walk in at your convenience. Several locations are within walking distance and many options are available just a short Uber or Lyft ride away if you don’t have your own vehicle.

We’ve recently revised our Simon-specific requirements for incoming students based on new guidance from State and the , and those comprehensive changes are reflected in the COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement and Health and Safety sections of our FAQs on the Admitted Student Portal. We strongly advise you to review those sections thoroughly to acquaint yourself with the most recent updates, but here are a few key highlights:

Vaccine Status Form—Due Friday, July 9 You will need to fill out this form to update us on your vaccination status before you arrive on campus. This form is separate from the Health History Form information you have provided to UHS via UHSConnect—you need to complete both—and will help Simon to have real-time information to aid in the implementation of Orientation. We ask that you return to the form via the Applicant Status Portal to make any necessary updates (a newly scheduled vaccine appointment, for example) so we can have the most up-to-date information. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
