Of course, word got back to the neighbor that I was upset about Peter bringing Stacie into the neighborhood on Sunday. She felt the need to defend herself, of course, and emailed me privately to discuss. She made it clear that this wasn't an "everyone's invited" type of neighborhood party - the invites were restricted to her husband's circle of poker buddies which includes Peter and their family members I had heard vaguely about the party but had pretty much decided not to attend because I hadn't seen or received a real invitation in any form. She was more than a little confused as to how I got word in the first place and upset that I might be blaming her somehow. She reminded me that they are friends with Peter and will remain so and he will probably be bringing Stacie with him sometimes to their house. And of course, I told her I never blamed her or her husband in the first place for my upset. They're wonderful people, and she has been a good friend to me. I don't want them to feel like they should have to choose between us or work around me because I can't seem to get over being hurt by the man I've had in my life since I was a teenager. I apologized profusely in my email, and I hope she realizes that I never harbored a bad thought about her, or her husband over this. I hate that this caused drama for her, and drama for me. And I'm as much to blame as Peter is in this one. He should've realized that I'd be humiliated having his "girlfriend" just down the street from me and cared about that, to some degree , and I should have been able to not care about it at all. They could spend their free time during rehearsals learning lighting design, assistant directing, sound effects, costumes, prop management, and marketing strategies.
