The President of the Republic of Finland Guardian of Finlandia Ski Marathon Welcome to Finlandia-HIIHTO

Finland celebrates the 100th anniversary of its independence in 2017, and Finlandia Ski Marathon is one of the official events in programme honoring that. We celebrate by skiing a true marathon event, 100 km in classic technique. In addition to that we naturally have also 50 km and 32 km classic technique events on Saturday and 50 km and 20 km free technique events on Sunday. All events are also included in Worldloppet serie, 32 km and 20 km will give you a stamp to short distances’ Worldloppet-passport.

Start and finish will once again be at the world-famous Lahti Ski Stadium. It has hosted several world class events including World Championships and World Cups over the years and will be the World Championships host once again later in February. The course will take you around Salpausselkä in hilly terrain of Lahti and Hollola. Our chief of course together with his team will prepare the conditions as perfectly as they possibly can. All skiers are our number one priority and we will do our utmost to make everyone’s ski marathon as enjoyable as possible. Our staff will take good care of you at the service stations and you can enjoy your day in Finland’s greatest Ski Marathon!

Enjoy skiing at Finlandia,

Juha Viljamaa President Finlandia-hiihto
