2002 - MA degree in English – Applied (two-year Master’s degree program), the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA).

1988 – CELTA Certificate (Certificate in English Language Teaching for Adults) – an 8-month teaching certification course offered by the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), UK. International House, Rome.

1986 – BA degree in Political Science (four-year Bachelor’s degree program), the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA).

Academic career

Since 1995 – former Lettrice, teaching position currently known as Collaboratrice ed Esperta Linguistica (CEL) – English – at the Università di Carlo Bo. She holds lessons and seminars on themes and specialistic language concerning economics-business-professional-legal topics: English for Economics and Business - the School of Economics (Economia); teaches for the undergraduate and graduate programs. Council of Europe CEFR levels B1/B2/C1.

She is a ‘Cultore della Materia’, besides her lettore/CEL position; she therefore occasionally writes and always co-carries out examinations for the undergrad and graduate students taking English language at the School of Economics at the U. di Urbino Carlo Bo.

She holds seminars for the English-language program entitled ‘Global Studies’: ‘Academic presentations and Academic writing’. DESP Department – UniUrb. Council of Europe CEFR level C1.

Adjunct Teaching Contracts

Since February 2018

She is contract (adjunct) professor in the module entitled Specialized Translation from Italian into English (5 CFU). Two year Master’s degree program – (Laurea Magistrale, LM 94) - Interpreting and Specialized Translation. Università di Bologna – Forlì Campus. Settore scientifico L-LIN/12. She conducts lessons on active translation into English in computer labs set up expressly for that purpose; subjects include economics-business-professional-legal topics, and materials are sourced by or developed by the instructor. Evaluation activities and final written exams for the Course are held in the aforesaid labs (DITlab) on the Forlì campus.

From February 2017 to May 2018

She taught as a contract professor for two academic years in the course entitled Lingua inglese I, for the undergraduate degree program (8 CFU – academic credits). Monographic course for students enrolled in Lin-Oc (Western languages); from October 2017 students from the Lin-Or (Eastern languages) area also attended these lessons. Università di Urbino Carlo Bo. Settore scientifico L-LIN/12. The course is entitled ‘An Introduction to English Sociolingistics’ and was conducted following CLIL methodology (Content and Language-Integrated Learning).

From 2006 to November 2016

She taught as a contract professor for 10 years in the Law School course entitled

Lingua inglese compreso il linguaggio giuridico – Idoneità; this was an obligatory course for the Master’s degree program (4 CFU) and the undergraduate program (3 CFU) at the Scuola di Giurisprudenza – Università di Urbino Carlo Bo. The course was conducted following CLIL methodology and included topics such as: Introduction to the Language of Contract Law, Tort Law, Company Law, Commercial Law, Mediation and Arbitration, Studying Law in the UK and the USA.

From 2006 to 2011

She taught as a contract professor for various courses at the School of Economics (Scuola di economia) - Università di Urbino Carlo Bo. These courses were conducted following CLIL methodology and took place on the Urbino and campuses of the university. The specialized English courses concerned topics including economics, international commerce, business studies, finance and management (at the CEFR levels B1 and B2).

Professional Activity

She works as a free lance translator (Italian-English), in particular on texts in the field of economics-finance-business. She has translated numerous laws connected with finance, as well as a series of Annual Reports for an organization obliged to present an Annual Report in English to fulfill international legal requirements.

She has translated many academic papers for instructors publishing in the areas of Economics, Business, Finance and Law.

She carries out corrections on English text for packaging and publicity materials of companies in the fields of international fashion, the agro-food industry and the nautical industry.

Since 2006 she has served as the University of Urbino’s Centre Examinations Manager for the University of Cambridge Assessment, English examinations board (University of Cambridge, UK) centre IT037. She organizes, and carries out computer-based and paper-based exams for condidates seeking to gain European CEFR language certification for the English language. She recruits staff and manages all the phases of the exams in accordance with the regulations of the certification board. Since 2016 centre IT037 has cooperated with the chapter of the non-profit organization IRIFOR/Unione Italiana Ciechi e Ipovedenti – the Italian Blind Union - to allow its members to register for and take European language certification examinations, despite their visual disabilities.

In the period 1991-1993 she was a dependent employee in the international transport section of an import-export company in the medical equipment sector ; she furthermore represented the company for international customers at trade fair stands in Europe and the United States.
