Habitat description:

Small oak (Quercus robur) dominated woodland with, at times, dense holly (Ilex aquifolium), blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) and bramble (Rubus fruticosa agg.) in shrub layer. Sloping down to the north, alder (Alnus glutinosa) dominates in the damper woodland. There is occasional willow (Salix sp.) and sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus). The damper area of woodland has rare angelica (Angelica sylvestris), water mint (Mentha aquatica) and occasional redcurrant (Ribes rubrum).

Remote sedge (Carex remota), soft rush (Juncus effusus) and bittersweet (Solanum dulcamara) occur in and around an old, dry pond. Broad buckler fern (Dryopteris dilatata) is occasional.

The south of the site is drier, and in places has bracken (Pteridium aquilinum), gorse (Ulex europaeus) and broom (Cytisus scoparius).

1 C1 Bracken 2 A1.1 Oak and holly woodland with a small patch of acidic grassland species with common bent (Agrostis capillaris), tormentil (Potentilla erecta), hawkweed agg. (Hieracium agg.). Also broom and gorse. Area of past sand extraction in the south east part of the site. 3 Young oaks 4 A1.1 Alder dominated woodland with willow, redcurrant, water mint, broad buckler, angelica, hedge woundwort (Stachys sylvatica), remote sedge and soft rush. An old pond in the north east corner. 5 A2 North west corner inaccessible scrub of holly and bramble 6 Mature oak, very large apple (Malus sp.) and large sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus). 7 Sapling young oaks

8 J2.8 On the east old banks with mature oaks and hollies J2.8 On the west bank an old bank but the boundary became inaccessible half way down On the north bank a ditch and wire which then became inaccessible towards the west On the south bank boundary of mature oaks with recent planting of blackthorn hedging. 2 obvious entrances into the common can be found.

Mill Common is one of five commons in Southrepps, one a SSSI and one a CWS. To the north of Mill Common is another CWS. There are residential properties to the west of the Common.

Is the site in positive conservation management? Please give details of management if possible eg is it grazed/cut for hay/coppiced/no management? Is the site in a stewardship scheme/got a management plan etc
