Liaoning Shihua University (Liaoning University of Petroleum and Chemical Technology) was founded in 1950 in the city of , which was the first petroleum school in and has now become a multidisciplinary university with petrochemical engineering as its major feature and Engineering, Science, Economics, Management, Literature, Law and Education as major subjects. For the past 62 years since its foundation, Liaoning Shihua University has fostered more than 80,000 students for China’s petrochemical industry, most of whom have become senior administrators and technical backbones.

The campus, located in the beautiful city of of , covers an area of over 1906 mu, with the building area of 628.000 square meters, all kinds of stadiums 100000 square meters, and possesses 2.54 million volumes of books (including electronic books 1.4 million), with the teaching and researching instruments worth 0.13 billion RMB. The university now has 20 schools and colleges: School of Petrochemical Technology, School of Petroleum Engineering, School of Computer and Communication, School of Environment and Biology, School of Chemistry and Materials, School of Economic Management, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Information and Control Engineering, School of Science, School of Foreign Studies, School of Humanities, School of Physical Education, Shunhua College, Vocational and Technical College, Education Experiment College, International Education School, Graduate School and College of Adult Education. It also has two key provincial supporting disciplines; 15 key provincial labs, 2 joint cultivating doctorate programs, 12 first-class master programs, 46 second-class master programs, 11 engineering master programs, 50 undergraduate majors and 26 vocational majors. The university has been appointed by the Ministry of Education the only undergraduate training base with preparatory courses for the minority students in northeast China.

The education for overseas students of Liaoning Shihua University was started from 1985. The school enrolls almost 2000 students from USA, Canada, South Korea,

Japan, Nepal, Namibia, Russia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Syria, Sudan and Saudi Arabia with its development from primarily language training programs to the combination of both language and undergraduate programs. This university has been active in the promotion of academic exchange and educational cooperation. Since the school was founded, it has established long-term partnerships with 20 institutions of higher education and scientific research from more than 10 countries, such as Britain, the America, Australia, Finland, Belgium, Russia, Egypt, Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam.

International Education College was founded in 2009, in charge of the recruitment and management of international students and also teaching and scientific research of the specialty of Chinese as a foreign language. It mainly focuses on promoting the cultural and educational communication internationally, recruiting and fostering students from all over the world. It is establishing an ideal platform for those who study Han-culture and also a significant stage for mutual communication between Chinese and international students. Since the foundation of the College, the education to overseas students has rapidly developed. Until now, the school has educated all kinds of overseas students from more than 20 countries and the number of in-study overseas students is over 300. International Education College sets up 4 division departments which are college office, overseas students affairs office, students office, Chinese as a foreign language teaching office. The college applies itself to the quality of education as a result of its advanced management system, well-appointed facilities, and experienced faculties. More than half of the lecturers used to teach Chinese in a foreign country, which guarantees the advantage of teaching and scientific research. In the 21st century, Liaoning Shihua University will be developed into a modern petroleum and chemical university, with its own strengths and features. Liaoning Shihua University welcomes all overseas students from all the countries of the world and strives to cultivate more talents for all the countries.

Ⅱ. Application Criteria and Procedure for Specialty Study Students

A. Applicant Criteria: Applicants should be over 18 years old with good health. Applicants should possess academic credentials equivalent to those of Chinese senior high school standards. B. Application Procedure: 1: Applicants should contact the staff members in the international students affairs office. 2. Application Documents: a. Fill out the “Application Form of Liaoning Shihua University of the People’s Republic of China” (download from our website http://www.lnpu.edu.cn). b. Provide academic credentials. c. Provide score list. d. Provide the copy of passport (first page / photo page) e. Provide 3 blank visa pages. f. Pay for Application and Registration Fee: 800 RMB. Note: Please send the above documents to [email protected] or [email protected] 3. After checking the application documents, our university will submit related documents to Liaoning Provincial Government to apply for the “Application Form for Foreigners Wishing to Study in China”, i.e. JW202. 4. After the JW202 is successfully applied, our university will send the admission letter and JW202 to the applicants (applicants should cover the mailing fee). 5. Applicants who are admitted should register at International Education College of Liaoning Shihua University with the original copies of application documents before the regulated time in the admission letter. If the students are not able to register for some reasonable excuses, they should notify the university beforehand, otherwise we will cancel their admission qualifications.
