Status of Legislation Spring and Summer 2013 STATUS OF LEGISLATION OF THE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY 5th Session, 61st General Assembly 62 Elizabeth II, 2013 Published by the Office of the Legislative Counsel Halifax, Nova Scotia STATUS OF LEGISLATION This booklet contains a list of all the bills that were introduced in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in Spring and Summer 2013. This sitting is the Fifth Session of the Sixty-first General Assembly. A Government Bill is distinguished by designating the portfolio of the Minister who introduced it. A Private Member’s Bill (non- Government public bill) or Private or Local Bill is distinguished by giving the constituency of the member who introduced it. In Nova Scotia, all Government Bills and Private Members’ Bills, after receiving second reading, are referred to the Law Amendments Committee unless the House otherwise determines. The only excep- tion to this rule is the appropriations bill which is governed by spe- cial rules of the House. All Private or Local Bills, after receiving second reading, are referred to the Committee on Private and Local Bills unless the House otherwise determines. Where a bill has received Royal Assent, the Chapter number in the 2013 Statutes is given as well as the time of commencement. __________ Compiled by the Office of the Legislative Counsel TABLE OF CONTENTS Sitting Dates of the House of Assembly . .1 Status of Bills . .3 Index. .27 SITTING DATES OF HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY 2013 Convened - March 26, 2013 Adjourned - May 10, 2013 Reconvened - July 5, 2013 Adjourned - July 5, 2013 Dissolved - September 7, 2013 2013 status of legislation 3 BILLS - LEGISLATIVE PROGRESS Bill 1 Accountability in Economic Development Assistance Act Honourable Stephen McNeil (Annapolis) First Reading. .March 26, 2013 Bill 2 Reliability in the Delivery of Electricity Act Andrew Younger (Dartmouth East) First Reading. .March 26, 2013 Bill 3 Support for Parents of Critically Ill or Abducted Children Act (Labour Standards Code - amended) Honourable Frank Corbett (Minister of Labour and Advanced Education) First Reading. .March 27, 2013 Second Reading . .April 2, 2013 Law Amendments Committee . .April 29, 2013 Committee of the Whole House . .April 30, 2013 Third Reading.
