44TH SEASON | SUMMER 2016 | 1 Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival Board of Directors 2016 Patricia Engels, Chair Michael Chamberlain, Vice Chair Atam Lalchandani, Treasurer Charles Fee Bob Taylor PRODUCING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Mary Ann Peoples, Secretary

Gina Barbarita-Apker Wayne Cameron Dear Friends, Vicki Kahn Welcome to the 44th Season of Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, Nevada’s largest professional, non-profit Roberta Klein theater and provider of educational outreach programming! Forty-four years of Shakespeare at Lake Tahoe is a remarkable achievement made possible by the visionary founders and leaders of this company, upon whose David Loury shoulders we all stand, and supported by the extraordinary generosity of this community, our board of directors, Vicki McGowen staff, volunteers, and the many artists who have created hundreds of evenings of magic under the stars. Kelly McMillan Following the great success of last season’s return to producing two plays in revolving rep, this summer we once Julie Rauchle again offer a masterpiece from the Shakespearean canon, The Comedy of Errors, playing with a great American, D.G. Menchetti, Director Emeritus off-Broadway musical, Forever Plaid. In 2010, when we made the decision to scale production down to a single Allen Misher, Director Emeritus play, we set a goal to restore the Festival to a healthy financial position and a stable operating model. With the support of our community of patrons, donors, and ticket buyers, and the development of a unique producing Warren Trepp, Honorary Founder model with our strategic partners, Idaho Shakespeare Festival and Great Lakes Theater, we have stabilized our finances and are delighted to continue our two show season this summer. We hope you will find the combination of a single company of actors performing Shakespeare and a musical to be exciting and rewarding. After all, the two forms have so much in common: soliloquies and solos, the elevated language of Shakespeare’s poetry and the lyrical poetry of musical theater, the fluid movement from scene to scene and multiple locations, heightened Staff emotions and grand spectacle! We sincerely encourage you to see both plays this season and let us know what you think of this continuing experiment. Charles Fee, Producing Artistic Director Our work carries on year-round, beyond the setting of Sand Harbor, through our educational outreach programming. Bob Taylor, Executive Director Our in-school residency program, InterACT, brings Shakespeare alive in the classroom for approximately 5,000 students each year with exciting interactive workshops. InterACT has become an essential part of arts education Lee Ann Allison, Box Office Manager throughout our region’s schools. Along with InterACT, our D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program continues to Joe Atack, Director of Education bring free Shakespeare to over 3,500 children and their families each summer with performances throughout the Troy Cox,Volunteer Coordinator region. For a full schedule of Young Shakespeare performance dates and locations, and to learn more about how you can support our educational programming, please visit our website. Christopher D. Flinchum, Special recognition must be given to our partners at the Nevada State Parks who welcomed the company to Production Manager Sand Harbor in 1976 and have worked with us ever since to develop one of the most beautiful settings for Bridget Gordon, Volunteer Coordinator theater in the world, and to the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation, who has provided our administrative Todd Krispinsky, Director of Marketing offices within the Donald W. Reynolds Community Nonprofit Center since 2002. Gary LokenDahle, Senior Accountant There simply is not the time or space in this note to thank the thousands of people who have made this season a reality. As you look through our program and walk through the theater, you will see the names of many who have Rae Matthews, Community kept the lights on over the years; imagine that each name represents hundreds of others who have also given Engagement Manager their time and passion to this company—to all, our deepest thanks and gratitude! 44TH SEASON | SUMMER 2016 | 23 Educational Outreach THE D.G. MENCHETTI YOUNG SHAKESPEARE PROGRAM Since 2002 the D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program has entertained over 60,000 children and their families around the region. Join us this summer as we present an hour-long adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors specifically designed for children and adults alike! Join the cast of the D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program as the cast of local professional actors team up with some of the area's middle and high school students to present Shakespeare's hilarious tale of mistaken identities and family reunited, The Comedy of Errors. This interactive hour-long adaptation of the Bard's riotous comedy is sure to entertain the whole family. Twenty-three years ago Syracusian, Antipholus, an identical twin and his companion Dromio, also an identical twin boy, were separated from their brothers in a storm at sea. At eighteen they set off in search of their lost brothers. Eventually they arrive in Ephesus, not knowing that their long lost twins live there. D.G. Menchetti Hilarity abounds as mistaken identities and confusion lead Young Shakespeare Program to the unlikely reunion of a family.
