FIDE Trainers’ Commission (TRG) 22nd Meeting (16-17-18-19.10.2011) Minutes & Decisions

1. Applications for Trainers: We received a relevant application (attached TRG-01- Application) by the:

1.1. Russian Federation: FIDE Senior Trainer: Evgeny Bareev.

1.2. (ASEAN) Chess Federation: FIDE Senior Trainer: Zhong.

TRG voted as according to rules and:

1.1. Awards the FST title. 1.2. Is pleased to support the award of the FIDE Trainer (FT) title only.

The Secretary will inform the FIDE office on the procedures and the titles awarded (attached TRG-02-New Titles) will be valid when approved by the next EB but they count from the date of approval by the TRG Council.

2. Seminars: The Council worked on future seminars as follows:

The Council approved the final results of the Yerevan (Armenia * 26.09-02.10.2011 * V.Grabinsky-S.Lputian) seminar (attached TRG-02-New Titles).

The Council approved the Prospectus of the New Delhi (India * 16-22.01.2012 * J.Petronic-L.Ravi-GB.Joshi) seminar (attached TRG-02-FTS-IND 2012-Application & TRG-02-FTS-IND 2012-Approval & TRG-02-FTS-IND 2012-Prospectus).

The Council approved the Prospectus of the Istanbul (Turkey * 02-06.09.2012 * 5 Lecturers) seminar (attached TRG-02-FTS-IST 2012-Info & TRG-02-FTS-IST 2012- Prospectus), during the Olympiad.

The Council approved the Prospectus of the Maribor (Slovenia * 09-15.11.2012 * A.Mikhalchishin-E.Grivas) seminar (attached TRG-02-FTS-MAR 2012-Info & TRG- 02-FTS-MAR 2012-Prospectus), during the WYCC.

3. Financial: The Council prepared the 2012 Budget (attached TRG-04-Budget 2012) and approved the relative letters to cooperating parties (attached TRG-04-ARISF Seminars 2012 & TRG-04-CACDEC Seminars 2012 & TRG-04-WOM Seminar 2012).

4. FIDE Trainer Awards 2011: The Council prepared the Rules and the proposed list of judges to be approved (attached TRG-03-FIDE Trainer Awards 2011-Rules). The awards ceremony will take place during the Istanbul Olympiad 2012.

1 5. TRG Guide: The Council updated the TRG Guide in minor points (attached TRG- 05-FIDE Trainers System Guide & TRG-05-Application FST).

6. Surveys 2012: The Council prepared the list of authors and the relative information for the 2012 surveys-on-line project (attached TRG-06-TRG Surveys List 2012).

7. Various: Council’s members were generally informed by the Secretary and discussed various subjects concerning training subjects. Among others:

7.1. The Council received an informative letter from RGSU University - Rector Mr. V.I.Zhukov (see attached TRG-07-RGSU) delivered by Mr. A.Kostyev. The Council decided to express its satisfaction for the project and to make clear that any help that will be asked, will be offered.

7.2. The Council met with the Development Commission and its Chairman Mr. Allan Herbert, discussing future cooperation between the two Commissions. It was agreed that CACDEC will directly finance the 50% costs of the WYCC TRG Seminar 2012 (1.750 €) and the total cost of the Olympiad TRG Seminar 2012 (1.750 €). Furthermore, the two Commissions will cooperate on pilot internet seminars via the TRG Academies (New York Academy to start) and in cooperation with the Continental Presidencies will draw-up a plan for TRG seminars in 2012, starting with the Pan-American Youth Championship (Peru). Another agreement was made for the project of a number of certified trainers that will assist CACDEC countries for the 2012 Olympiad. The plan would be to assist each trainer with an air-ticket and a 1.200 € fee (board & lodging on the country) for the captaining/training of 7-8 chosen CACDEC countries. Councilor Mr. Uwe Boensch was appointed as coordinator. TRG Council would like to praise the very positive assistance of CACDEC.

7.3. The Council met with the Technical Commission and its Chairman Mr. Dirk De Ridder, informing on its thoughts on Teams’ competitions (reserve players & team- captains) and on changing the age-limits for veterans’ events (unification on U.50, U.60 and U.70).

7.4. The Council approved the Guideline for the Syllabus (Lower Titles) index and authors, prepared by Mr. Kevin O’Connell (see attached TRG-08-Syllabus 2012 Guide).

7.5. The Council met with the Adviser for Chess for Disabled Mr. Thomas Luther. TRG expressed its support for educational programmes for the disabled and appointed Councillor Uwe Boensch as liaison person for such projects. TRG recommends the Executive Board to address the necessity of funding Chess for Disabled projects.

The present Minutes were prepared by various TRG meetings on 16 th , 17 th , 18 th and 19 th October 2011, in Krakow FIDE Congress.

All Council’s decisions/proposals will come in force after the next EB approval.

The present Minutes will be announced on TRG’ website. The attached letters will not be announced before their approval by the next EB.

Information - Rules

The FIDE Trainers’ Commission (TRG) is pleased to announce the fourth FIDE Trainer Awards and will continue by honouring the achievements of our most successful colleagues of 2011.

There will be a judges’ panel consisting of seven (7) members, with reputation and knowledge in the field of training:

The panel has been approved by the 2011 FIDE EB (Krakow * 15-22.10.2011). The awarding ceremony will take place during the 2012 FIDE Congress. A ‘Tree of Chess’ sculpture ( http://trainers.fide.com/awards-hall-of-fame.html ) and a diploma will be given to each of the five (5) winners. Each member of the judges’ panel will vote for each of the six categories separately. He will have the right to vote for three persons, giving three (3), two (2) and one (1) point respectively. In case of a tie in the first place, two or more winners will be announced equal first. For the Hall of Fame, the three first trainers will be accepted. We welcome nominations for the five categories that have been approved and these are as follows:

1. Botvinnik Mikhail medal for men’s trainer or captain, for best results in men competitions where World Championships and Olympiads are valued foremost, to be considered too are long standing high results. 2. Furman Symeon medal for women’s trainer or captain, similar to Botvinnik medal but applicable to women’s competitions. 3. Euwe Max medal for juniors trainer, for best results in junior competitions, to be considered are world and continental championships plus founder of famous chess schools, training programs, and academies. 4. Boleslavsky Isaac medal for best book which instructional values are remarkable, and to be considered are also series of articles, instructional computer software, and programs for development of players. 5. Petrosian Tigran medal for a special achievement over the last years.

Nominations can be made by FIDE office bearers, TRG, and Federations. Only FIDE Senior Trainers and FIDE Trainers in exceptional circumstances can be

FIDE/TRG Awards 2011 1 nominated. A special form has to be filled up (see below). For the Boleslavsky medal we invite book publishers and chess software developers as well, to make nominations in this specific category. Prizes will be announced together with the results. Chess Publishers or any sponsor, who is interest on the subject, can offer his views and sponsoring to the TRG. The FIDE Trainers Commission will also continue to fill-up the Trainer Hall of Fame. TRG intention is that every year together with the five (5) trainers of the year awards, we will also continue to honour three of our esteemed colleagues with membership of the Trainer Hall of Fame, and besides creating a special place on TRG website (http://trainers.fide.com ) to honour them, we will also be finding a permanent home for our Hall of Fame in one or more FIDE Academies worldwide. The voting will take place by July 15th , 2012 and the winners will be officially announced after the ratification by the coming FIDE EB or PB.
