Draw a labelled picture explaining what you think he might have been or done in his earlier life. Remember to expand your explanation with the conjunction ‘because’. If you have already read the book, please try and use your imagination. • After listening/reading along to Chapter 1 of Mr Stink, you will have found out lots already about Chloe and Mr Stink. Draw a chart (like the one to the right) and gather evidence about each character. Writing Activities • Re-write a David Walliams’ story of your choice with an exciting twist. If you have never read a David Walliams’ story, go on Youtube as there are lots of audio-books OR you could re-write the ending to ‘Mr Stink’ using what you know from Chapter 1. • Write a letter to David Walliams explaining why you enjoyed reading a certain book of his. What made it stand out to other books you have read? Remember a biography is an account of someone’s life. First you must research different key events in David Walliams’ life and gather information before drafting your biography. While making desserts for a bake sale, Gangsta Granny used 19/30 of a scoop of brown sugar as well as 8/30 of a scoop of white sugar. How much more brown sugar did Granny use? 10. Write your own fraction word problems linking with David Walliams characters. Maths Continued Learning Objective: To create a timetable In Chapter 5 of Gangsta Granny, there is a timetable for 'granny's hectic life'. Can you create a new, more exciting timetable either for Granny or another character from a David Walliams story with lots of different activities at various times each day? Can you make up some questions for others to answer about your timetable (e.g. How long does a particular activity last?). PSHE Chloe from ‘Mr Stink’ had the word ‘loser’ sellotaped to her back when she left school. This is classed as bullying. Can you design an anti-bullying poster? Science Chloe gave Mr Stink some sausages. Create a healthy meal plan for Mr Stink for 1 week. Think about our ‘Shaping Up’ topic, when we learnt about healthy eating. Geography Joe's dad from ‘Billionaire Boy’ travels to his new school in a helicopter. Think of different ways that you could travel to school and discuss the pros / cons of each. Could you draw a map of your route to school, adding features that you see on the way? Other Ideas: • Design new PJs for the Midnight Gang. You could also have a PJ day! • Make a wordsearch or crossword puzzle with words from a David Walliams’ book. • Make your own slime like in the story: ‘Slime’ by David Walliams. You could try the following ingredients, or you could experiment with your own! 1. 100ml PVA white glue (children’s craft glue or CE marked glue) 2. ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda 3. gel food colouring 4. 1 tsp contact lens cleaning solution 5. glitter (optional) I hope you all have fun with this home learning!
