We are a unique cultural corner- stone that voices, documents and preserves the history and role of Arab Women. Founded by Dr. Reem el Mutwalli, this non-profit initiative, seeks to establish a foundation that will house the rich collection of information passionately collected through 30+ years of research. At present, our traveling exhibitions and museum collections aim to showcase specially curated collections around the world. Our mission is to preserve extinct to near extinct craftsmanship, history of dress, first hand ‘real’ insight to heritage and stories of women never recorded before. FOUNDER AZZA ALSHARIF Azza Alsharif is a Saudi Textile production & product Designer based in the UAE, She has worked in the design industry for 7 years with experience working on leading design exhibitions in the Middle East, Azza went onto developing her love for traditional crafts in the UAE through many collaborative projects both regionally and internationally which involved craft skills development with artisans in the UAE. This has then led Azza to establish Gumash Studio in February 2018, a multidisciplinary platform that takes inspiration from traditional crafts in the Middle East. During Al Shindagha Days, Gumash Studio will be displaying Jewelry pieces & other unique hand crafted products inspired by Middle Eastern craftsmanship. Also weaving workshops will be offered.
