Some of our SCC Alumni are making the news in the UFC, the Major Leagues of MMA fighting.

First, (2005-5th in State) (Menlo College Grad), coming off of his 1st round Knock Out of then #3 Ricardo Lamas at 145 pounds will take on another hard puncher in #8 Jeremy Stephens on February 24th on UFC on Fox 28. Emmett is currently ranked #4.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mefYF85OIcQ&feature=youtu.be

Also, Tyler Diamond (2010-3rd in State) (North Dakota State Grad) just got picked up for – TUF 27 reality show, produced by the UFC. Diamond is 9-0 and looking to get a shot at the big times. He also fights at 145, . https://www.mmafighting.com/…/ufc-announces-cast-for-the-ul…

Danny Castillo (1999-2X NAIA All American) (Menlo College Grad) a retired UFC fighter, is still in the lime light of the UFC as he has cornered a number of Alpha Male fighters in recent wins. He is the lead wrestling coach for Team Alpha Male. He was in the corner for Emmett's knockout and just recently in the corner for yet another Alpha Male feather weight in a win, Andre Fili.

Diamond becomes the 4th SCC wrestler to make it to the UFC following Emmett, Castillo and Scott Smith (4th in State – 1998).

************************************************************************************************************* ************************************************************************************************************* ************** Some of the SCC Alumni wrestling at 4 year programs are in the top of the heap right now.

Derek Lee Loy (2016 State Champion) is wrestling at 165 pounds for Wartburg College, a D3 program in Iowa. He was ranked as high as #8 in the nation, but an injury has slowed him down a bit. Hoping for a quick recovery and a rebound to the rankings. His team is currently ranked #2 in the Nation.

Two Panther Alumni are competing at Hastings College in Nebraska. Albert Landeros (2014- 3rd in State) is competing at 141 and is currently ranked #10 Nationally in the NAIA. Teammate, Chris Vaughan (2015-7th in State) was ranked as high as #14 at 157. He dropped out of the rankings, but bounced back nicely in the last tournament where he was seeded #7 but won the tournament. He defeated the #5 and #11 ranked wrestlers in the nation that day, and finished ahead of the #4. He should be back in the rankings the next time around. Also at Hastings is Assistant Coach Jesse Hellinger (State Champion-2010). Hellinger was an NAIA National Champion for Dickinson State a few years ago. He also finished 2nd in the Nation.

Jason Zecchini (2015-4th in State) was at the same tournament with Vaughan. He went 3-2 in the meet. He is coached by SCC alumni and current Assistant Coach at Dickinson State Univ. in ND, Taylor Hodel (2013-State Champion). Hodel was an All American at Dickinson State two season ago, finishing in 3rd place, while also picking up an award as a National Scholar Athlete.

Dylan Forzani (2015-State Champion) is competing at D1 Tennessee-Chattanooga. He has been doing his best wrestling for them as late and just had a big dual win over the Citadel.
