  • International Europe Class Union
APRIL 2004 / 1 NEWSINTERNATIONAL EUROPE CLASS UNION LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Sailors and Friends ! This year is a very special one. It is the year the Olympics take place. Our wonderfull class can be divided in many ways. One way is who is carrying out an Olympic campaign, who is not. I will guess that about 50 sailors are involved in an Olympic campaign, and they will get a lot of attention this year. The 50 of you I will warn about the coming pressure. Everyone will press you. The NA’s, the coaches, the press, yourself, also. Please do not forget: it is wonderfull to sail and specially to compete with friends. Winning is good, but not everything. I will remember everyone, that the Olympic qualifier this year is the regatta in Hyères. I will also remember you that if your nation now or after the Hyères regatta is not qualified Olympics, there is still a possibility to go. There might be nations that qualify, that will not send their sailors, and then the one who is outside, suddenly is inside. There will really be something to race for, even for the lower positions, in Hyères. If your nation is qualified, but your nation cannot send you, I will be very happy to hear from you immediately (e-mail: [email protected] ). I know a lot of you have been preparing in Miami, Cádiz and Mallorca this winter, and are really well prepared. I am looking foreward to meet all of you, see how good you are, and also meet a lot of new faces.
