An Important Safety Message From The Physical Education Department

Mouthguards

As you may be aware, the governing bodies of rugby, hockey and whose schools’ international players are required to wear , strongly recommend the wearing of custom fitting mouthguards at all levels. The school policy is to adhere to these guidelines. We have asked OPRO, the dental organisation that specialises in mouthguards, to visit the school and to give everyone the opportunity to have a dentally fitted mouthguard at a reasonable cost.

OPRO now visits a very substantial number of schools, and provides the following service:

● A qualified dental professional to take the impression ● A CE approved individually named mouthguard. ● Mouthguards returned to school usually delivered within a week of fitting ● School name in mouthguard ● A prompt replacement in case of loss (OPRO keep the impression) ● A comprehensive aftercare service ● A dental accident warranty for 12 months

In order to take advantage of this service all you need do is:

1. Choose the mouthguard design you require from the enclosed leaflet/order form or go to the OPRO website www.opro.com to see the full range of designs available. 2. Place the order either over the internet, by phone or post.

In all cases please deal directly with OPRO and not the school.

Mouthguard fittings will take place in the school sports hall on Thursday 17th September 2020 starting at 9am. Boys will be issued with an allocated time for their fitting on that day and if social distancing expectations are still in place we will endeavour to adhere to them.

Whilst we are able to take order forms on the day of the fitting, this does cause inconvenience and may delay the delivery of the mouthguards, so can we urge you to reply as soon as possible.

If your son already has a mouthguard, please check if it fits. Your son’s growth can prejudice the fitting and effectiveness of a mouthguard.

Please also visit the OPRO website at www.opro.com for further information, special offers and the latest designs.
