  • What Is Included in Downlands School Fees?
A message from our Principal Downlands College extends a warm welcome to you and your family. I am very proud and privileged to be the Principal of this exceptional school that has developed leaders, entrepreneurs and individuals who have made a difference in the world. Founded by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) in 1931, Downlands College has a rich history and continues to be characterised by its strong Catholic ethos and MSC spirit which underpins all we do. At Downlands we acknowledge and embrace the diverse heritage, cultures and backgrounds of our students, staff and broader school community. The development of strong, life-giving relationships forms the cornerstone of a Downlands education, and our unique MSC heritage ensures that the Downlands journey is intertwined with an ‘education of the heart’. A focus on relationships allows our core values of love, courage, compassion, understanding and humility to be woven through all our interactions. Widely recognised as a leading coeducational day and boarding school, Downlands College is known as the ‘school of choice’ and a school ‘where your heart finds a home’. At Downlands there is a niche for every student. We journey with each individual student academically and pastorally to provide the best possible school and post-school pathway. Opportunities include a very broad curriculum offering (academic and Vocational Education and Training), sport, performing arts, agriculture, leadership, social justice projects and community service. Our goal is to have happy students who perform to their personal best in all situations and who take responsibility for their learning and relationships. This includes student presentation, excellence in academic pursuits, co-curricular involvement, treating peers and community members with respect and kindness, and having a sense of humour.

  • Waggamba Shire Handbook
WAGGAMBA SHIRE HANDBOOK An Inventory of the Agricultural Resources and Production of Waggamba Shire, Queensland. Queensland Department of Primary Industries Brisbane, December 1980. WAGGAMBA SHIRE HANDBOOK An Inventory of the Agricultural Resources and Production ofWaggamba Shire, Queensland. Compiled by: J. Bourne, Extension Officer, Toowoomba Edited by: P. Lloyd, Extension Officer, Brisbane Published by: Queensland Department of Primary Industries Brisbane December, 1980. ISBN 0-7242-1752-5 FOREWORD The Shire Handbook was conceived in the mid-1960s. A limited number of a series was printed for use by officers of the Department of Primary Industries to assist them in their planning of research and extension programmes. The Handbooks created wide interest and, in response to public demand, it was decided to publish progressively a new updated series. This volume is one of the new series. Shire Handbooks review, in some detail, the environmental and natural resources which affect farm production and people in the particular Shire. Climate, geology, topography, water resources, soil and vegetation are described. Farming systems are discussed, animal and crop production reviewed and yields and turnoff quantified. The economics of component industries are studied. The text is supported liberally by maps and statistical tables. Shire Handbooks provide important reference material for all concerned with rural industries and rural Queensland. * They serve as a guide to farmers and graziers, bankers, stock and station agents and those in agricultural business. * Provide essential information for regional planners, developers and environmental impact students. * Are a very useful reference for teachers at all levels of education and deserve a place in most libraries.

We respectfully thank the elders of this traditional land both past and present for guiding us through the journey of time to where we are today. This spiritual and cultural journey is significant in allowing the freedoms our society has today. As a community we reflect on the history of Australia and its First Nations peoples and ask all elders to guide us to a promising and enriching future. As a community we will continue to develop our minds to be respectful and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as well as all people who make up this country of Australia. Dear Parents and Carers, Introduction Next week, our Senior Leaders will attend a Diocese Mass celebrating 200 Years of Catholic Education in Australia. In this country, over the past two centuries, we have been gifted to have the opportunity to provide an education that is grounded in the mission of the church and develops the spirituality of students to build a more just and equitable world. Although the number of people attending church maybe declining, for many of our students today the College is the church.
