Professor Norm Borin and Director, Computing Resources and Labs Joe Emenaker are hosting an Orfalea International Business Tour to Peru. The trip will explore sustainable business.

Focus: Sustainability in Peru Cities: , Cusco & Aguas Calientes Dates: December 9-20th, 2017 Estimated Program Cost: $2,400* + Airfare Orfalea Travel Grants are available to those students who express a financial need on the application. Estimated Airfare Cost: $700-$1,000 *Estimated cost.

This is a non-credit bearing trip is a part of the newly formed Orfalea International Business Tours, now happening only for Orfalea College of Business students. Previous tours have visited New Zealand, Germany, Vietnam, China and Cuba. *Please note: Students must be in good academic and disciplinary standing in order to participate in any tour.*

Itinerary Highlights

Lima 5 days, 6 nights

• Lima City Overview: Visit the Mayor Square, the Government Palace, The Cathedral of Lima, and The Convent of Saint Francis with its catacombs and the Inquisition museum. Then continue with the Archbishop’s Palace and City Hall, Districts of Saint Isidro, and the Miraflores District. • Folklore Dinner: Spend a night out at La Dama Juana Restaurant, where you’ll enjoy a tasty Peruvian buffet and folkloric dancing. This tour offers travelers an appetizing introduction to Peruvian culture and tradition. La Dama Juana Restaurant is unlike other restaurants in Lima. It combines typical Peruvian food with traditional folkloric dancing. This makes for a fun and delectable experience.

Cusco and Aguas Calientes 5 days, 5 nights

• Farm Visit: Visit to organic potato farm outside of Cusco. Learn about how farmers approach sustainability and efficiency, and how that impacts their farming methods and ways of doing business. • Machu Picchu: Your private local guide will meet you at the hotel and you will be transported by shared bus with guide to the top of the mountain and citadel of Machu-Picchu, one of the most renowned examples of Inca architecture, surrounded by lush cloud forest. Lost in history, it was not discovered until 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham.

Dr. Borin is a full professor in the marketing area at the Orfalea College of Business. He has taught courses in the areas of marketing strategy, promotion, product management, promotions strategy and quantitative business analysis. He has been a visiting professor at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica, Chiang Mai University Thailand, University of the Basque Country, Copenhagen Business School, Seinajoki Polytechnic Business School in Finland and has taught at the McIntire School of Business at the University of Virginia.
