Vass-tyne • Graduating seniors Macie Tendrich (95) and Julia Mannisto (74) ended their time at South Carolina ranked first and second, respectively, for career wins. • In the postseason, three pairs earned the inaugural Top Flight award from the AVCA. To qualify, a pair must compete in at least 15 matches together at one position in the lineup and win at least 75 percent of those matches. Cadie Bates and Katie Smith at the second position, Julia Mannisto and Carly Schnieder at the third position, and Leah Perri and Macie Tendrich in the fourth position made the cut. • Bates and Smith and Mannisto and Schnieder also made the USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Champion- ship field in the summer, marking the second season in a row that the program sent multiple pairs to the national pairs tournament.

GAMECOCKS IN THE NATIONAL RANKS The team earned its first-ever ranking by the AVCA on March 6, 2017, and have not left the polls since. South Carolina comes in at No. 10 in the Feb. 25 poll, despite a 1-3 record in its opening weekend. It’s the 15th poll in a row that the team is ranked in the top 10, with a program high of eighth. Eight Gamecock opponents are cur- rently ranked in the top 20, including four of the top eight, and four other future opponents are receiving votes.

NOTEWORTHY ABOUT THE CCSA National Championships in 2018. South Carolina joined the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) in October 2015 as the eighth Abby Carroll, a Southlake, Texas native, comes to South Carolina with a family history with Gamecock athletics member of the conference. Senior Shannon Williams enters her final season in Columbia as the active wins leader. Her 60-45 career record is even more impressive when you consider that 64 over her 105 career starts have come in the number one posi- tion in the lineup. As a freshman, Williams went 14-21 at the number one position in the lineup, and led the team again last season with a 14-12 record at the top. Only two other individuals in program history have more wins at the top position in a single season, but Williams overall has 10 more starts at number one than any other Gamecock in program history.

THE RACE TO 50 Entering the 2018 season, only two Gamecocks in program history had reached 50 career wins. Now in 2019, AVCA RANKINGS there are a handful of active players who are aiming to expand the club. Cadie Bates (Duke) played in 83 career matches indoors and went 20-8 in her first season with the beach team. Lydia Dimke (Creighton) was a 20 Saint Mary’s 1-3 NR 2016 AVCA All-American for the Blue Jays, and led the team to the Elite Eight of the 2016 NCAA tournament. Receiving votes: Injuries limited her to just seven matches in her first season with the program, but she returns to the sand full- Arizona State*, TCU*, North Florida, time in the spring with a chance to make a major impact. ALL-TIME RECORDS • South Carolina holds a 87-59 all-time program record, dating back to 2014. • The Gamecocks joined the CCSA for volleyball in 2016, and have an all-time conference record of 25-15. • In home matches at Wheeler Beach, Carolina is 42-15 (.737). • Moritz Moritz is entering his sixth season as head coach of the Gamecocks, spanning the entire young his- tory of the program.
