TAPIT MAINTAINS CLUB TO CONTINUE STUDYING PROPOSED CAP RELENTLESS RHYTHM TO The Jockey Club is continuing its consideration of a rule to limit the annual breeding of individual stallions, the organization=s NEW MILESTONE board of stewards announced Monday. In a statement, The Jockey Club added, AWe are grateful for the many thoughtful comments in response to our September proposal. The stewards are considering those comments as we continue to study the cause and effects of decreasing diversity of the gene pool and finalize a rule to protect the breed=s health and welfare.@

IN TDN EUROPE TODAY EDOUARD DE ROTHSCHILD RE-ELECTED AS FRANCE Lake Avenue winning the Demoiselle | Sarah Andrew GALOP PRESIDENT by Chris McGrath Edouard de Rothschild was re-elected as the France Galop President. Click or tap here to go straight to TDN Europe. It is the sheer consistency of his output that has sustained =s rise as a colossus of the modern breed: with his influence on the racetrack, first and foremost; with his corresponding impact in the sales ring (28 seven-figure yearlings); and next, judging from a promising start by several sons including star freshman Constitution, as a sire of sires. When Lake Avenue laid down her Oaks marker the other day, with a four-length success in the GII Demoiselle S. at Aqueduct, Gainesway=s multiple champion sire broke $150 million in lifetime progeny earnings. So while this is Tapit=s first year without a Grade I winner, it is still one in which only Into Mischief and Vino Rosso=s sire Curlin have accumulated more purse money. Still more instructively, TDN=s current table of North American sires by lifetime earnings shows not just that Tapit=s $150 million milestone leaves him $15 million clear of his nearest pursuer, . It also confirms his supremacy by earnings per named foal at $115,721, with only Curlin otherwise breaking six figures (at $100,770, albeit Speightstown is just a few cents short).

RULER OUT TO CONQUER FRANCE EDOUARD DE ROTHSCHILD By Alayna Cullen RE-ELECTED AS FRANCE After winning the Derby in 2013, Ruler Of The World (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) was bought into by Al Shaqab Racing in whose GALOP PRESIDENT colours he went on to win the G2 Qatar Prix Foy at four. The son of Galileo (Ire) started his career at Coolmore's Fethard base, and from his first crop he sired the four-time Group 1 winner Iridessa (Ire), who became Joseph O=Brien=s first Breeders= Cup winner as a trainer when she saluted in this year=s GI Filly & Mare Turf at Santa Anita in November. The young trainer is only the second person to have ridden and trained a winner at the meeting, the other being Freddy Head. (O=Brien rode the late St Nicholas Abbey (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}) to take the 2011 GI Turf at Churchill Downs.) Ruler Of the World spent last year in Ireland at Castlehyde Stud and has recently moved to Al Shaqab's Haras de Bouquetot, where TDN paid him a visit during the Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale. "The thought was to bring him back here, because being a Group 1 winner by Galileo, who has sired a Group 1 winner, it's a very rare opportunity for any French breeder," said Benoit Jeffroy, stud manager and bloodstock advisor for Al Shaqab Edouard de Rothschild | Racing Post Racing. Cont. p2

Edouard de Rothschild has been elected with a majority to serve another four years as President of France Galop, which oversees the organisation of almost 7,300 races in France each year. The owner-breeder has already completed one term in the role since his initial appointment in 2015 and he defeated Serge Tardy in Monday=s election with 37 votes to 13. De Rothschild will have LoVc Malivet and Jacques DJtrJ as his Vice-presidents, respectively overseeing the Flat and National Hunt committees at France Galop. He also has a lovely walk, very Chambure, representing the younger industry stakeholders, athletic and a great temperament. He arrived a few weeks ago have been invited to attend board meetings but will not have now, and he's settling in very well, getting to his daily routine voting rights. and he really enjoys his new place." Ruler of the World certainly seems to be winning over his new hosts and, with the sales season wrapped up and attentions turning to nomination bookings, there is every reason to believe >Ruler= Out to Conquer France Cont. from p1 that he will find a new group of supporters among the French breeding ranks. Although Ruler Of The World's first few crops are relatively smallCwith 35 and 38 named foals in 2016 and 2017Che has a respectable ratio of winners to runners and, being a Classic-winning half-brother to four black-type winners, BOOKMARK including Duke Of Marmalade (Ire) (Danehill), his crop size is http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/getLatest.php to download the latest edition of the TDN each day. likely to rise with this cross-Channel move.
