The only viable alternative is to tap into the large amount of seawater that is readily available across the world through desalination processes. At ICODE 2011, the conference committee has put together a truly unique program that addresses the cutting edge research issues in water treatment and desalination science and techniques. A series of state-of-the-art plenary presentations will be presented by internationally renowned experts on the ethics of desalination, brine disposal, membrane distillation and boron removal from seawater. These will be accompanied by breakout sessions focussing on thermal processes, hybrid processes and related technologies such as pre-treatment, scale and corrosion inhibition, bio-fouling control, renewable energy, process economics, resource recovery and water reuse and brine concentration and disposal.
