NEWS & UPDATES 1. Orientation on Inspection SOP for POs was conducted by DUDBC/DLPIU Gorkha and HRRP Gorkha on 3 Jan. It was noted during the session that the inspection SOP does not include dry stone construction using timber banding which is very prevalent in northern areas where a significant amount of construction has started and been completed. 2. More than 80% of houses in Northern Gorkha have already been reconstructed. It will be a major challenge for the inspection and supervision team to suggest any improvement and retrofitting options for these houses. 3. Treatment and seasoning of timber was considered to be the major challenges in many working areas. Only soft or medium wood is available in middle and northern zones of Gorkha. 4. Practical Action and HRRP Gorkha supported the Planning Session of the Supply Chain Assessment on 9 and 10 Jan, chaired by DDC Planning Officer, Shatish Kumar Bhattrai. All the POs agreed to conduct the assessment by forming 16 clusters and agreed to © Sunita Gurung submit the final data before the end of March 2017.
