MINUTES of the meeting of 5 January 2005, 10.30 - 12.00 BRUSSELS
The meeting opened at 10.35 on Wednesday, 5 January 2005, with Elmar Brok, chairman, in the chair.
The Chairman welcomed everyone to this extraordinary joint meeting which had been called in order to meet with the ambassadors/representatives of the countries most affected by the TSUNAMI flood disaster in Asia.
1. Chairman's announcements:
There would be a declaration by President Borrell at the opening session of the Parliamentary session in Strasbourg on Monday 10 January at 17.00. A special joint meeting of the committees on Foreign Affairs/Development/Budget and the delegations for ASEAN and South Asia on the disaster would be held in Strasbourg on Monday 10 January from 19.30-21.30, with Commissioners MICHEL and FERERRO WALDNER and others.
On Tuesday 11 January, there would be an International Donors' Conference on Humanitarian Aid in Geneva.
On Wednesday 12 January in Strasbourg, there would be a plenary debate with the Luxembourg President of Council, Mr Juncker, and Commission President Barosso.

The meeting closed at 11.45 to allow Members to attend the special ceremony at Rond-Point Schuman at 12.00 (3 minutes of silence as a mark of respect for the victims of the Tsunami).
