Our Chai Discussion Group, facilitated by Marge Wein, continues to bring provocative issues to the table. We had an interesting discussion in January about sexual harassments, thanks to everybody who came to share his/her opin- ions! Don’t miss the next one! These lively discussions are held the 4th Tuesday of every month.

The Pensacola Jewish Federation, in association with the University of West Florida’s Department of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, is pleased to announce a series of two lectures by Dr. David Meola. Dr. Meola is the Fanny and Bert Meisler assistant professor of history and Jewish studies with the University of South Alabama. The first event will be held on February 27. The topic is "Mirror of Competing Claims: Exclusionary Violence and Jewish Equality in the German States". Dr. Meola will discuss the multiplicity of meanings behind the Haber Affair of 1843; a pair of duels and series of public events that captivated the German press for the better part of an entire year. The lecture will be held at the UWF Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Building 82. A reception will be held starting at 5:30 PM and the lecture will follow at 6:00 PM. This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, but seating is limited. On February 28, a lunch and learn session will be held at Temple Beth El, 800 North Palafox St. The topic for the event will be "Beyond the Holocaust - Recovering the Jewish Past-for Our Present". The luncheon will begin at 11:30 AM. Seating is limited, and reservations are required. Please RSVP to [email protected] with a subject line of “RSVP for Meola Event”.
