Box 619 • Fordham Station • Bronx, NY • 10458 CitySquash is a not-for-profit youth program based in the Bronx at Fordham University. We help motivated young people from economically disadvantaged households in the Bronx fulfill their academic, athletic and personal potential. FOUR KEY GOALS THAT WE HAVE FOR OUR STUDENTS ARE THAT THEY: • Improve their academic performance • Become competitive squash players • Attend high quality high schools • Graduate from college Founded in 2002, CitySquash serves 130 elementary, middle, high school and college students. For our participants, CitySquash is an intensive, year-round commitment that starts as early as 3rd grade and lasts through college graduation. Our programming includes squash, tutoring, mentoring, community service, travel, high school placement, college prep and more. CitySquashers play squash and receive academic tutoring on Fordham University’s Bronx campus, in the neighborhood where most CitySquashers live and go to school. CitySquash’s Learning Center, on Arthur Avenue and 187th Street, is the site of individual tutoring sessions and book clubs. On weekends, team members practice, study, compete in tournaments, take cultural field trips and do community service. In the summer, CitySquash runs an academic and squash camp and sends team members to sleep-away wilderness, academic and squash camps. CitySquash’s high school and college students have won over $9 million in financial aid. Forty-two CitySquash students have attended the following selective prep schools: All Hallows Eaglebrook Mercersburg Suffield Avon Old Farms Episcopal Millbrook Taft Blair Hackley Salisbury Trinity-Pawling Berkshire Hill St. George’s Westover Brooks La Salle St. Paul’s Williston Northampton Canterbury Loomis Chaffee St. Pius V Students in CitySquash’s first four classes attend or will soon enroll in the following colleges: Bates Connecticut College Franklin & Marshall Hunter College Borough of Manhattan Cornell George Washington Mt. Holyoke Community College CUNY Bronx Hamilton St. Lawrence Bucknell Community College Hobart and Trinity City College of NY CUNY Medgar Evars Williams Smith Wesleyan CitySquash is one of ten member organizations of the National Urban Squash and Education Association.
