Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Scholar 6

The URE Steering Committee offers this prestigious award to recognize undergraduate students who exemplify scholarly activity. Qualities that make a student successful in scholarly activities characterize those same qualities FHSU seeks to develop in students: original thought, creative ideas, communicating with professional colleagues, critical reasoning, analysis of research, translation of evidence into practice, and first-hand knowledge of how work is performed within a professional discipline.

The URE Steering Committee will provide five awards, one for an outstanding undergraduate student from each college. Nomination letters can come from FHSU faculty or staff, and should be submitted through this website no later than March 6, 2020. Any FHSU undergraduate student--including KAMS and Virtual College students--is eligible. The research project may be from the award year or past years; however, the student must have been an undergraduate student for a minimum of one semester during the award year. The nomination should describe the scholarly qualifications and products of the student--for example, published papers, professional presentations, on-campus research activities, musical/artistic performance, or other novel scholarly activity. The nomination should clarify the role of the undergraduate student in the scholarly activity. The nominator should also include the nominee's CV or resume.

Nominations will be evaluated by a subcommittee, who will make a recommendation to the full URE Steering Committee. Winners will be recognized during Undergraduate Research Week in April 2020. https://fhsu.infoready4.com/CompetitionSpace/#competitionDetail/1807233

Encore Series Volunteers Needed!

The Encore Series is an eight-show performing arts series that takes place on the Fort Hays State University campus in the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center. These shows bring nationally and internationally touring professional groups to our campus and community. To support the series, each year we search for volunteers to assist us by helping receive tickets at the doors and assist attendees with finding their seats.

To sign up for a volunteer position, simply login to TigerLink and find the form “2020 Encore Volunteer Form” on the Student Engagement page or click on the link provided: 13 https://tigerlink.fhsu.edu/submitter/form/start/374179. This is a great opportunity to receive service hours for an organization or individually.

Volunteers will be expected to work all shows that they signed up for. Please review the information provided on the TigerLink Form before submitting. At each show you volunteer for you or your organization will be expected to arrive at 6:30 PM. It is important to understand that you are the primary contact and you are responsible for making sure the registered volunteers for your organization and/or yourself are on time for the selected performance.
