    Application for Best Event/Program within an Event to Benefit a Cause Herky on Parade Live Auction 2015 IFEA Pinnacle Awards Application for Best Event/Program within an Event to Benefit a Cause Herky on Parade Live Auction IFEA Pinnacle Awards 1. Overview Information A. Introduction/Background of Main Event Herky on Parade was the largest public art project ever produced in the Iowa City, Iowa area. The beloved University of Iowa mascot, Herky the Hawk, was fabricated into statue form and took on 84 different designs and went on display all over the university campus and three surrounding communities from May through August 2014. The 2014 project celebrated 10 years since the original Herky on Parade took place in the area. Those who were residents in 2004 were familiar with the project and excited to bring it back, though it didn’t take long for those who didn’t live in town the first time to also get excited. The anniversary Parade brought together over 50 local and regional artists, over 60 local sponsors, three municipalities, and a Big 10 university. It became an engine that united residents, visitors, business professionals, and students, building a shared bridge in which all could take part. The Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) was the primary organizer for the program and led the executive committee. B. Description & Purpose/Objective of Program The Herky on Parade Live Auction was the final event of the project and the most important aspect in terms of fundraising. From the beginning, the intention was to auction the statues at the end of the summer in order to benefit a local non-profit organization.

    DIVISION I WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS RECORDS BOOK 2016 Championships 2 History 14 Team Finishes 28 All-Time Team Results 34 2016 CHAMPIONSHIPS Penn State, Oklahoma State's Dieringer highlight final day of NCAA Championships at Madison Square Garden: March 19 was a night of firsts, seconds, and thirds inside Madison Square Garden. And it ended in dramatic fashion. In the 2016 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships’ final match after three days of grueling competition inside a legendary arena, Ohio State’s Kyle Snyder used an ankle-pick with eight seconds left to force overtime with North Carolina State’s Nick Gwiazdowski, then score another takedown 15 seconds into the first extra session to end the Wolfpack senior’s 88-match winning streak. Gwiazdowski’s bid for a third title was thwarted, but another senior, Oklahoma State’s Alex Dieringer, finished his career with 82 straight victories and a third national title. Illinois’ Isaiah Martinez won his second championship at 157 pounds. Gabe Dean, a junior for Cornell, picked up his second gold. Missouri’s multi-talented J’den Cox claimed his second in three years. Penn State’s Nico Megaludis and Cornell’s Nahshon Garrett, after long and successful careers, finished in style with their first titles. Oklahoma State’s Dean Heil and Penn State’s Zain Retherford, both sophomores, claimed championship number one, as did Snyder. And underdog Myles Martin, an Ohio State freshman from nearby Penns Grove, New Jersey, had the highlight of the night in beating Penn State’s Bo Nickal. Locked up, both men ready to strike, Nickal tried to turn an ankle-pick into two.

The World Cup is an annual international dual meet championship that pits the best eight men's freestyle wrestling teams in the world. Joining Team USA will be Georgia, Azerbaijan, Japan, Cuba, Kazakhstan, India and Mongolia. Each country will wrestle three dual meets over the course of Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Place meets will begin at 12:30 p.m. central time with the gold medal match at 4 p.m. With each team allowed two team members at each weight class, Martinez was added to the roster at 74 kilograms, 163 pounds, joining former Nebraska wrestler Jordan Burroughs of the Sunkist Kids and Nebraska wrestling clubs. Martinez is currently a member of the Titan Mercury and Illini wrestling clubs. In total, Team USA World Cup members have claimed three Olympic medals, 13 Senior World medals, eight age-group World medals and 30 NCAA Division I national titles. Martinez recently concluded his Illinois career with his fourth NCAA Finals appearance.
