  • Black Country Urban Park Barometer
3333333 Black Country Urban Park Barometer April 2013 DRAFT WORK IN PROGRESS Welcome to the Black Country Urban Park Barometer. Transformation of the Environmental Infrastructure is one of the key to drivers identified in the Black Country Strategy for Growth and Competitiveness. The full report looks at the six themes created under the ‘Urban Park’ theme and provides a spatial picture of that theme accompanied with the key assets and opportunities for that theme. Foreword to be provided by Roger Lawrence The Strategic Context Quality of the Black Country environment is one of the four primary objectives of the Black Country Vision that has driven the preparation of the Black Country Strategy for Growth and Competitiveness through the Black Country Study process. The environment is critical to the health and well-being of future residents, workers and visitors to the Black Country. It is also both a major contributor to, and measure of, wider goals for sustainable development and living as well as being significantly important to the economy of the region. The importance and the desire for transforming the Black Country environment has been reinforced through the evidence gathering and analysis of the Black Country Study process as both an aspiration in its own right and as a necessity to achieve economic prosperity. Evidence from the Economic and Housing Studies concluded that ‘the creation of new environments will be crucial for attracting investment from high value-added firms’ and similarly that ‘a high quality healthy environment is a priority for ‘knowledge workers’. The Economic Strategy puts ‘Environmental Transformation’ alongside Education & Skills as the fundamental driver to achieve Black Country economic renaissance and prosperity for its people.

  • Report: Agenda Item 5 Appendix 4
Wyre Forest District Council Golf Facility Review Introduction This report reviews current golf play provision within Wyre Forest District Council (WFDC). Golf was not included within the Playing Pitch Strategy as supplied by Knight, Kavanagh and Page (2017) because it is not a statutory sport. Although golf is not a statutory sport in which to include within a PPS as outlined by Sports England1, it was felt that a review would be beneficial in regards to the emerging Local Plan and specifically in regards to proposed site allocations within the former Burlish Golf Course. This report will review the current golf courses within Wyre Forest District, and nearby courses in adjacent councils. It will also review current demand levels for Golf both in terms of local demand and also wider national trends. It will also discuss in detail the former golf course site at Burlish, and the proposed vision for the site. 1- Current Provision Wyre Forest District currently has five English Golf affiliated courses currently operating, all of which are run as privately operated clubs. Each club does offer visitor pay and play service but are primarily membership clubs. There is also an additional non affiliated private pitch and putt course based in Winterfold school, and a pay as you play pitch and putt course at Mini Pro Golf Parks. All of the Golf Clubs are within a 20 minute drive time for all Wyre Forest District residents, which is the drive-time catchment as recommended by Sport England. Summary 1.1 This paper seeks to identify the level of community facilities that exist within the Wyre Forest District and provide background information to inform the preparation of the District’s Local Development Framework (LDF). 1.2 The audit of community facilities was undertaken during the summer of 2009. The audit concentrated on a range of facilities, which were as follows: • Community Centres • Civic Halls • Community Schools • Places of Worship • Church Hall • Village Hall • ‘Other Hall’ • Scout Hut • Day Centre • Library • Social Club • Nursery / Crèche • Doctors • Dentists • Museums • Libraries • Cinemas 1.3 Other community facilities, such as sport and recreation facilities, have been audited in separate reports. The reports detailing these facilities can be viewed on the Council’s website (www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk) 1.4 The audit identified the number of facilities that exist within the District, and then split this by ward area, to give a greater appreciation of the spatial distribution throughout the District.

  • Ribbesford Meadows Teams
Date: 05.02.2019 Ground: 81 Match: 23 (2018/2019 season) Venue: Ribbesford Meadows Teams: Bewdley Town V Smethwick Rangers Competition: West Midlands Regional League Premier Division Admission: £3 Final Score: 5-0 (H/T 3-0) Referee: Not Known Attendance: 22 (Head Count) Mileage to venue and return: 41.2 Miles Programme: £1 Introduction This game was the third time in a row that I had attempted to take in a midweek game of football. Two weeks ago, I arrived at the Aspray Arena to watch Dudley Town V Black Country Rangers, but the snow came down with force and the game was postponed with around half hour to go too kick off. Last Tuesday I had planned to visit Wellbeing Park for the ‘El Stonio’ between Stone Dominoes V Stone Old Alleynians, but that was postponed earlier in the day due to more bad weather. So, it goes without saying that I was very pleased to see an improvement in the weather and for this game at Ribbesford Meadows to go ahead. As this was a midweek match, I went straight to the venue directly from my place of work in Atcham, Shropshire. My route from work took me the usual way home too Much Wenlock but instead of turning right in Much Wenlock and towards my, HQ in South Shropshire I travelled towards the Shropshire Village of Morville. From Morville I travelled through more Shropshire Villages – Glazeley, Billingsley and Button Oak to name but a few before arriving in Bewdley. As is my usual practise, I found the location of the ground which is located in the Village of Ribbesford, 1.3 miles from Bewdley.
