ST. FRANCIS DESALES REMINDS US, “Do not worry about tomorrow. The same Loving Father who cares for you today will take care of

you tomorrow and every day.” – ST. FRANCIS DESALES

Dear Alumnae, Families, and Friends of Rosati-Kain,

The one hundred fifth academic year has begun with great celebration. The generosity of more than one thousand of you has created a new home for our students, faculty, and staff. It truly is the day the Lord has made — with your help!

On August 23 Archbishop Robert Carlson, Mayor Francis Slay, and a representative group of alumnae, parents, students and staff participated in the dedication and ribbon cutting of 12,000 sq. ft. of new construction and over 12,000 sq. ft. of renovated space in the original building.

August 24 was the first full day of school for the classes of 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Living our mission for these young women is what makes Rosati-Kain alive and vibrant. Our students come from 64 zip codes and 86 partner schools. Excitement was in the air as our girls explored the new Rosati-Kain and immediately identified new experiences the space provides. Learning, praying, and playing together presents the opportunity to embrace and appreciate the diversity that is a hallmark of Rosati-Kain. The lessons learned each day will allow students now and as graduates to lead, serve and heal our community and our world.

Fulfilling our mission has tangible challenges. Providing the resources needed by teachers and students is the ongoing effort of our Annual Fund. Scholarship support is a necessity. Capital improvement will continue to be needed and payment for the recent renovations is not yet complete. All this will unfold in God’s time with God’s help. St. Francis deSales reminds us, “Do not worry about tomorrow. The same Loving Father who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrow and every day.” Thank you to each and every one of you who through your generosity demonstrate God’s loving care for our school and our students. Your prayers, your talents, and your gifts are greatly appreciated. May God reward you 100 fold!

Blessings,

S. Joan Andert, SSND President

FALL 2015 | 1 FROM THE PRINCIPAL

“ You must not teach just content, but the values and customs of life. A computer can teach content. Instead there are [crucial] things that you must transmit: how to love, how to understand which values and customs create harmony in society. For that we need good teachers!!”

– POPE FRANCIS, addressing the Italian Catholic Union of Teachers, Leaders, Educators, and Trainers at their 70th anniversary celebration

Dear Rosati-Kain Community,

This quote from Pope Francis is an accurate depiction of what I experience on a daily basis as principal of this great institution. Entering my second year as principal, I find myself more grateful than ever for the opportunity to be with people so committed to the gospel values. Faculty, parents, students, alumnae and friends regularly express their love for one another and for those in need. Though our students excel in the classroom, on the field, court and stage, the clearest distinguishing characteristic of a Rosati-Kain girl is her love of God and neighbor. Our teachers promote strong academics while at the same time mentoring our young ladies to champion one another and to develop into Christian women who will fearlessly lead and serve their communities and the world.

As I walk through the halls, I am blessed to observe our teachers and students on a journey together. Rosati-Kain teachers strive to view our students as full humans. In turn, our students grow from girls to women with the confidence, perseverance, and grace to love their neighbors as they love themselves.

When I witness this, I realize the Holy Spirit is alive in our halls and in our hearts. Thanks to the generosity of so many of you, we have so much more space and opportunity to educate our young women on the content, values, and customs the Pope acknowledges are necessary to create a harmonious and loving society. Every day is a great day to be at Rosati-Kain. Thank you for the support, prayers, and dedication you provide to make Rosati-Kain a living example of the Pope’s dream for education.

Come visit when you are near. I would love to show you the kindness and love that are alive in our school every day.

Dr. Elizabeth Ann Goodwin Principal

2015 ANNUAL REPORT | 21 2015 Annual Fund Organizations

The Annual Fund giving program began in the early 1990s. It is a direct result of supporters acknowledging that the cost of a premier, Catholic education would continue to rise and that it would become prohibitive to families usually served. R-K is so fortunate to have so many wonderful supporters of this fund; alumnae, parents, faculty, grandparents and friends have helped in the steady growth which helps Rosati-Kain’s budget.
