ISSUE 3 PAGE 3 Party with a Purpose (PORPOISE)….

As you know our club has the Mission to Party with a Purpose. Basically we want to leave the world a little bet- ter than we find but have fun in the process. Way back (last fall) we started to joke with the word purpose and replace it with Porpoise and we hope you enjoy the art- work to the left.

In all seriousness though we have many opportunities to help in our community and to donate time as a group. Jimmy Buffett is known for his views on a clean environment and the following events present our club with the opportunity to have fun and help in a worthy cause.

Earth Day Cleanup (April 16th) Help clean up the Burlington and West Burlington area from 8 A.M. to 12 P.M. Meet at the Port of Burlington. Free lunch is served to participants from 11 A.M. to noon. This is great event for the whole family and lets the “ little phlockers” get involved in a parrot head event. Let’s see how many we can get to show up. Wear an old Hawaiian shirt or old Buffett shirt to show your support.

Clean Out You Files Day– The 13th annual “Clean Out Your Files Day” is Thursday April 21st from 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. with a drop off site at the Amtrak parking lot from 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. President Schwen- ker has been contacted by Darven Kendell who is seeking help. If you have a couple hours during the day contact Darven at [email protected] and volunteer.

Finally your club’s officers have been in discussions regarding the group (charity) that we will help in 2011. We hope to have some options that we can e-mail to our membership for voting. Stay tuned.

We are the people our parents warned us about!
