RECOMMENDATIONS:

A. That the City Council designate the unnumbered location situated one sidewalk square northerly of and between numbered locations 91Band 91b as shown on Sheet 11 of Plan D-13788 for the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the installation ofthe name of Mark Harmon at 6253 Hollywood Boulevard.

B. Inform the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce of the Council's action on this matter.

C. That this report be adopted prior to the date of the ceremony on October 1,2012

No General Fund Impact. All cost paid by permittee.

DISCUSSION:

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has submitted a request for insertion into the Hollywood Walk of Fame the name of Mark Harmon. The ceremony is scheduled for Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11:30 a.m,

The communicant's request is in accordance with City Council action of October 18, 1978, under Council File No. 78-3949. Following the Council's action of approval, and upon proper application and payment of the required fee, an installation permit can be secured at 201 N. Figueroa Street, 3rd Floor, Counter 23.

MARK HARMON

During the course of an enviable career, Mark Harmon's acting talent has earned him multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. But it is his portrayal of Special Agent on NClS for which he is most recognized. The CBS drama continues to rank in the #1 spot among scripted shows. It's no surprise that Harmon and the series were nominated for the People's Choice Award, Going into the 9th season of the show, Harmon was elevated to Executive Producer and scored an overall deal for his company Wings Productions with CBS Studios. While on from NCIS he developed, executive produced and starred in "Certain Prey," an original movie for USA Network. Based on the series of Prey books written by John Sandford, Harmon portrayed Minneapolis Deputy Police Chief Lucas Davenport. In other television work, he was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for NBC's much-lauded "." Previously he earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Special for ": The White House Years." He received two consecutive Golden Globe nominations for his work on "Reasonable Doubts," and received two additional Golden Globe nominations for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Made for TV; one for "After the Promise," and another for his role as notorious in "." Along with his costars on "," he received two Best Ensemble SAG Award nominations. While on the hit show, Harmon also directed several episodes of the program. Other notable television performances include portraying astronaut Wally Schirm in HBO's "From Earth to the Moon" produced by Tom Hanks, "St. Elsewhere," "Moonlighting," and Tennessee Williams' "Sweet Bird of Youth," Harmon _.page 2

On the big screen, Harmon played the co-host of a local morning news show in the indie film "Weather Girl,") the President of the United States in Warner Brothers' film "" with Mandy Moore and opposite in the Disney hit remake of "Freaky Friday." He made his feature film debut in Alan Pakula's "Comes a Horseman." Additional credits include 's "Wyatt Earp," "Stealing Home," with , "The Presidio," and Carl Reiner's smash hit, "Summer School." Hannon also made memorable cameo appearances in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," "," and "The Last Supper." He lent his voice to the character of in Warner Home Video's release ": Crisis on Two Earths" as well, On stage, Harmon has appeared in Kevin Wade's "Key Exchange," Bill c. Davis' "Wrestlers," and Mark Medoff's "The Wager." In addition, he has done several successful productions of A.R. Gurney's hit play "Love Letters" with his wife, actress . Born and raised in Southern California, Hannon excelled in sports. He quarterbacked UCLA to multiple winning football seasons and was awarded the National Collegiate Football Foundation Award for All Around Excellence. He is a Cum Laude graduate, with a degree in Communications. His father, , was a Reisman Trophy winner and nationally acclaimed broadcaster, and his mother is former actress .

ACTION NOTES

Attending: Jeff Briggs, chair; Johnny Grant, Earl Lestz, Mark Panatier, Elizabeth Peterson, Steve Tronson. Staff: Gubler, Lindgren

Chairman Jeff Briggs called the meeting to order at 7:45 a.m. The following significant items were discussed:

1. Lindgren reported that a meeting will be held with KTLA on February zo". The members of the Executive Committee discussed settlng up a meeting with Councilmembers Garcetti and LaBonge. Concern was expressed about accepting any monies from the City to finance the Parade because of the potential strings attached.

2. Johnny Grant moved and Elizabeth Peterson seconded to approve the following persons for Walk of Fame stars: Roger Moore,,,,,-M~kHarmon, Judge Joe Wapner, and Forest Whitaker. Motion passed. ~

3. The following officers volunteered to contact delinquent members: Elizabeth Peterson to contact Ricardo Montalban Theatre, Earl Lestz to contact Elliot Johnson, Steve Tronson to contact Skooby's Hot dogs.

4. It was the general consensus that our State Enterprise Zone Seminar should be held at Paramount Pictures Studio. Staff will work with Charlie Armstrong on this.

5. Panatier recommended that the Chamber draw from its long term investment accounts to payoff the Line of Credit.

6. Lestz asked to know the Chamber's cash position as of the end of January. He noted that the Chamber's cash position is down $400,000 from where it was a few years ago. He also asked for a list of interest rates that the Chamber is getting on its accounts.

7. Elizabeth Peterson moved and Steve Tronson seconded to authorize Jeff Briggs to be listed as a signator to make bank wire transfers from First Regional Bank. Motion passed.

8. Gubler was asked to bring back a proposed budget in balance at next month's Executive Committee meeting and to include the salary for the new administrative position.
