OFFICIAL MAGAZINE WINTER 2020 A NEW EXHIBIT SPOTLIGHTS ICONIC INSTRUMENTS / THE GARAGE ROCKS FROM THE CEO Thank you for helping us deliver a monumental year at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame! The beat goes on and we have no plans to turn down the volume. Your support makes all of this possible and helps us better engage, teach and inspire through the power of rock & roll. Here are just a few ways we’ve done that together this year: The Garage is alive and cranking, taking over our entire second floor and inspiring fans to pick up an instrument, plug in and feel the power of rock & roll. Play It Loud: Instruments of Rock & Roll is open! Our largest exhibit ever has taken over the museum. Featuring the most iconic instruments in rock & roll history, the exhibit was co-organized by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Our CLE VIP program, presented by KeyBank, has provided free admission to more than 20,000 residents, helping us reach and engage underserved portions of our community. We hosted over 500,000 visitors and more than 100 days of live music! I look forward to 2020 and all of our exhibits, events and programs on the horizon, including the 2020 Induction Ceremony in May and the celebration of our 25th Anniversary all year long. We couldn’t do this great work without you. Thank you again for your support. To view an amplified version of this magazine and dive deeper into content and videos, visit rockhall.com/title-track.

avis Staples is a musical icon. Her career spans not only multiple decades, but multiple genres as well; she performs songs both secular and sacred. She consistently inspires us with messages of love, hope and justice. This year, we were thrilled Mto celebrate and honor Staples with the inaugural Rock Hall Honors concert. Rock Hall Honors is a remix of our Annual Music Masters series and recognizes artists who have changed the sonic landscape of our lives, and provides new perspectives on beloved and influential icons. The program explores the legacy of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees in events that include exhibits, a symposium hosted by Case Western Reserve University, a fan day at the Rock Hall and a concert benefiting our education programs. During the concert, Staples brought down the house with powerful renditions of songs like “If You’re Ready (Come Go with Me),” “Freedom Highway” and “Respect Yourself.” Staples was joined onstage by 2004 Inductee Jackson Browne, Americana singer Valerie June and Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes throughout the show. The last song of the night was a collaboration with these artists on “The Weight”—the perfect ending to an amazing night. “I am so thrilled to receive the Rock Hall Honors tribute,” said Staples. “When my family, the Staple Singers, [was] inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame [in 1999], it was exciting for the whole family. For me to now come back on my own as a solo artist to receive this honor is just beyond belief, and I know my father, Pops Staples, would be so proud.”
