Riverside Police Officers’ Association “Safe in His Arms” 2018 Awards Gala Message From the RPOA President It’s my pleasure to welcome our members and their guests to the 2018 Awards Gala. This was another outstanding year of nominations highlighting the professionalism of our men and women in field operations and investigative assignments. All of those nominated represent what is unique and impressive about our chosen profession. Please stop by and recognize them for the way they have represented our organization during their daily duties. You will hear stories tonight of heroism and exceptional courage in the face of danger by members of the Department. But there are other heroes present this evening. Those of you that permit us to do the work we were meant to do. Many of you put the kids to bed, eat dinners alone or get startled by a late night phone call. You make every baseball game, drop kids at school and attend family functions that we wished we could be at but can’t. You are the real heroes in our family. There are many community members present this evening that support their police force. Many believe so deeply in our members and the hard work they do day in and day out that they are sponsors of the event this evening. If the opportunity presents itself make sure to raise a glass with them and thank them for their support. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that it has been my honor to serve as your elected president for the past four years and I am grateful to be selected for another opportunity to serve the membership. The RPOA has earned a reputation for providing quality representation for the membership with regards to their working conditions and making sure the “family” is taken care of as well by offering outings for our members and their families. It would not be possible without your support. Enjoy this evening of celebration and thank you again for making this event possible! Brian C.
