CAST BIOGRAPHIES

RYAN ANDERSON ( Jet: Big Deal ) is a recent graduate of the University of at Chapel Hill where he studied voice and education. Though this is his first performance with Raleigh Little Theatre, Ryan has an extensive performance history ranging from classical opera to contemporary shows. His most recent performance was in Steve Martin’s Bright Star. He would like to thank everyone who has supported his endeavors in performance, especially his parents.

BRENT BLAKESLEY ( Jet: Snow Boy) is excited to perform in his third production at Raleigh Little Theatre. Favorite roles include Fabrizio in Raleigh Little Theatre’s The Light in the Piazza, Rudy in Justice Theater Project’s Bent, and Mark in Theatre in the Park’s Southern Baptist Sissies. In addition to local theatre and opera, he performs in The Oakwood Waits. He’s the office manager at Coolidge Law Firm. He’d like to thank Brian and Alex for their support.

DION CASTRO (Shark) is grateful to be a part of his first production with Raleigh Little Theatre. He is currently finishing a degree in Marketing at Wake Technical Community College and has been involved in the local theatre community as an actor, music director, director and producer for various stage productions. His notable acting roles include Jean Valjean in Les Misérables (Spiritual Twist Productions), and Long John Silver in Treasure Island (Ceramic Goose Productions). He would like to thank his mother for her constant support of his theatre endeavors. All glory to Christ!

JESSE FARMER ( Jet: Diesel ) is a sophomore musical theatre student at . Theatre highlights include Woof in Hair, Mark Antony in Julius Caesar, Cooper in Island Song, Otto in Spring Awakening, John Hinckley Jr. in Assassins, and Burrs in Lippa’s Wild Party. This is Jesse’s third production with Raleigh Little Theatre, previously in the ensemble of both Little Shop of Horrors and Cinderella! He will be back on the Raleigh Little Theatre stage this summer as Pippin in Pippin. Jesse would like to thank his family for their support and love.

HOUSTON HORN (Officer Krupke/Doc/Glad Hand/Jet) danced with Cinderella in his first Raleigh Little Theatre production. (Alas, one rehearsal only (and he knew she’d leave the party without him).) A 2015 RLT Diva, he wins backstage arguments by saying ‘I’m the only one here who has diva on his resume’. Fun facts: He has completed the Gilbert and Sullivan canon; and, his Music Appreciation professor was in the West Side Story Broadway opening night orchestra.

CHRISTOPHER INHULSEN ( Jet: A-rab) is a Cary native and recent graduate of Wake Tech. He is excited to be returning to Raleigh Little Theatre for the fifth time and singing with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra for a second time. ZACH MEEKER (Tony) is honored to be making his debut with Raleigh Little Theatre alongside such a talented group of performers. He’s been a part of numerous productions over his 12+ years in theatre as an actor, as well as a writer, producer, and director. Recent credits include Ted Hinton in Bonnie and Clyde (NRACT), Tripp in Fractured (Solace Theatre), Dr. Livesey in Treasure Island and Cardinal Richelieu in The Three Musketeers (Ceramic Goose).

ELENA MONTERO MULLIGAN (Shark Woman/Somewhere Soloist) is a local actress and singer holding degrees from in Theatre and Biology. She is so excited to be participating in one of the great classic musicals (especially the one that celebrates her Puerto Rican heritage!) Many thanks to the WSS production team and RLT for this stellar opportunity!

ZEINA G. MVEMBA (Shark Woman) is a Speech-Language Pathologist by day and a budding theatre enthusiast by night. This is her first performance with Raleigh Little Theatre. A voice student of the Chapel Hill School of Musical Arts, Zeina has also participated in Raleigh Little Theatre’s Adult Education Program.

CONNOR NIELSEN (Riff ) is thrilled to be making his debut with Raleigh Little Theatre and the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra. Recent roles include Arpad in She Loves Me and Laurent in Tartuffe with PlayMakers Repertory Company, and Romeo in Juliet and Romeo with Kenan Theatre Company. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill last week, and is looking forward to getting more involved with the performing arts community here in The Triangle.

MELANIE PAYNE (Shark Woman) is a recent graduate of The American Musical & Dramatic Academy NY (2016). A few local credits are Cinderella (Page) at Raleigh Little Theatre, Spring Awakening (Berta) at NRACT, and A 1940’s Radio Christmas Carol (Boutonnière) at Cary Players. She is so excited to be part of this production and would like to thank her whole family for the support and love they’ve always given. Especially Tio Louie, May you Rest In Peace, and enjoy the show we always talked about me being a part of.

PATRICIA PASCUAL (Shark Woman) is excited for her first performance with Raleigh Little Theatre! She would like to thank Erin Wenger and the North Raleigh School of Music for all the support and encouragement over the past year.

JAIRO A. PEREIRA (Shark) is new to the Raleigh area. This is his first performance at Raleigh Little Theatre. His favorite roles include Dave Bukatinsky in The Hickory Community Theatre’s The Full Monty, and Shrek in Shrek the Musical. He would like to thank Pam Livingstone and Molly Bass for their continuing support and for helping him grow as a performer. He would also like to thank Jamie Julian for being his rock. MICHAEL PEREZ (Bernardo) is so excited to be making his Raleigh Little Theatre debut. Michael has been in shows around The Triangle at theaters such as North Carolina Theatre, Theatre Raleigh, NRACT, and Theatre in the Park. Michael has also been in the Netflix showInsatiable , AMC’s Halt and Catchfire, and TV Pilot When the Streetlights Go On. Michael would like to thank his friends and family for supporting him through all his endeavors and most of all his dogs Pepe and Pedro.

ELIZABETH M. QUESADA (Anita) is delighted to return to the stage with Raleigh Little Theatre! INGRID SANTIAGO (Shark Woman: Rosalia) has just completed her freshman year at Meredith College studying Music Education. She is thrilled to be performing in her first Raleigh Little Theatre production! Other favorite roles include Children’s Chorus Ringer in NCO’s Carmen and Tosca, Sir’s Lawyer in Side Show, and Ape Ensemble in Disney’s Tarzan. She would like to thank her parents and the casting team for this amazing opportunity.

JOSHUA SCARBOROUGH ( Jet: Baby John) is making his Raleigh Little Theatre debut. His favorite roles include Jimmy in Athens Drive High School’s production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Professor Callaghan in Athens Drive’s production of Legally Blonde: The Musical. He is currently pursuing a career in law enforcement.

JACOB SEN (Shark) is a junior at The Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill and is very excited to be back for his second show with Raleigh Little Theatre. Some of his recent roles in the Triangle area include Tommy in Annie in Get Your Gun and Peter in the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. He would like to thank the directors for this wonderful opportunity and hopes you enjoy the show.

ALYSSA WHITE (Maria) is a Raleigh native and is thrilled to be back performing in her hometown after leaving to complete her undergraduate degree at Elon University. As a Cuban American, she is honored to represent her heritage and make her family proud in this iconic role. Recent credits include Guinevere in Camelot (Alamance Repertory Theatre Company), Rosemary Pilkington in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (Gallery Players), and Katherine Plumber in Newsies (Gallery Players).

RALEIGH LITTLE THEATRE 15 PRODUCTION STAFF BIOGRAPHIES

DENNIS R. BERFIELD (Production Manager/Technical Director) is from South Williamsport Pennsylvania. He attended Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. He went on to pursue a Masters of Fine Arts in Scenic Design and Technology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. During his time in undergraduate and graduate school, Dennis worked at various regional and off-Broadway theaters as a Scenic Artist, Carpenter, Master Carpenter, Scenic Designer, Assistant Technical Director, Scenic Coordinator, as well as many other backstage production roles. After working professionally for a number of years, Dennis became an adjunct professor at Millinkin University in Decatur, IL and eventually went on to become the Technical Director at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania.

BRYAN BUNCH (Production Assistant) is beyond excited to be a part of this production! He is currently a student at NC State pursuing a BA in Arts Studies: Theatre as well as a self-designed BA in Arts Leadership and Administration. ALEC HAKLAR (Assistant Technical Director) is a New Jersey native who graduated from North Carolina State University in May 2017. Prior to Raleigh Little Theatre, Alec worked as a freelance scenic carpenter at NC State’s University Theatre, Two River Theater, New Jersey Repertory Company, William Peace University, and the Berkshire Theatre Festival.

CHARLES PHANEUF (Executive Director) is a Raleigh native who returned to the area and to RLT in 2012. He was previously Managing Director of Joe’s Movement Emporium, a multi-disciplinary performing arts center located outside of Washington, DC, and Associate Managing Director at Shakespeare Theatre Company during the expansion into the Harman Center for the Arts. Charles is a founding member of the Capital Fringe Festival and Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra, both in Washington. He is a UNC-Chapel Hill alumni, President-Elect of the Friends of the Gregg at NCSU, and is serving on the Dix Park Master Plan Advisory Committee. Charles was named “40 Under 40” by the Triangle Business Journal in 2014, and Tar Heel of the Week by the News and Observer in 2018.

MICHAEL SANTANGELO (Vocal Director) is thrilled to be working with the wonderful cast and orchestra of West Side Story! Past credits include Disney’s High School Musical On Tour and Breaking Up is Hard to Do (Branson Production). Regional credits include High School Musical (TOTS), Meshuggah Nuns (Gateway Playhouse), Altar Boys (NCT), A Chorus Line (NCT) and The Little Mermaid (NCT). Locally, Michael has served as Musical Director for In The Heights (NCT Conservatory), Jesus Christ Superstar (NCT Conservatory), Crazy for You (NCT Conservatory), Divas! (RLT), Spamalot (RLT), Grey Gardens (JTP), The Color Purple (JTP), Title of Show (NRACT), and The Wedding Singer (NRACT). He is a graduate of the Crane School of Music.

PATRICK TORRES (Artistic Director) has been a professional director and educator for over 15 years. Prior to joining Raleigh Little Theatre, he served as a Directing Fellow at the Shakespeare Theatre Company, Associate Artistic Director of Young Playwrights’ Theater (YPT), and Director of Middle and High School Programs at Creative Action. His work as a freelance director has been seen at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Southwest Shakespeare Festival, Round House Theatre, The Source Festival, and the Hangar Theatre, among others. He served as the Assistant Director for The Glass Menagerie starring Sally Field at the Kennedy Center through an award given by the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. In 2003, he was selected as a Drama League Directing Fellow and in 2005 was named a Young leader of Color by the Theatre Communications Group. As an educator, he developed the After-School Playwriting Program for YPT which won the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award from First Lady Michelle Obama in 2010. Patrick has a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Southern Mississippi. He would like to thank his wife and family for their support.

CAILEN WADDELL (Lighting Designer) is excited to be designing another production at Raleigh Little Theatre. He believes he has squeezed more lighting fixtures into this theater than have ever been here before and is quite proud of this. He would like to thank his wife, Liz, for listening to the soundtrack of the show on repeat for weeks at a time while he worked on the lighting cues.

DR. JIM WADDELOW (Music Director and Conductor) is one of the most versatile conductors in the South. A native of , he is Music Director and Conductor of the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra and Artistic Director of the Oklahoma Haydn Festival. Jim also serves Meredith College as Director of Instrumental Activities, conducting the Meredith Sinfonietta, Meredith Opera, and musical theater productions for Meredith Ensemble Theater.

In 2010 he founded White Iris Light Opera in Raleigh, and the following year he led Meredith musicians on a concert tour of Tuscany, Italy. Guest appearances have included Summerstock Productions at the University of Central Oklahoma, Lubbock Moonlight Broadway, Capitol Opera Raleigh, Durham Savoyards, the Triangle Youth Symphony, and numerous all-state and all-region orchestras.

Equally at ease with music for the stage, Jim has conducted over 300 performances of more than 70 musicals and operas at the professional and college level. Previous conducting affiliations include the Oklahoma Youth Symphony, Lubbock Youth Symphony, Texas Tech University, Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony in Eureka Springs Arkansas, and the University of Central Oklahoma. A strong advocate of music education, he has conducted orchestras, choirs, and musicals for youth music camps in Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and North Carolina.

He is currently the Director of Strings of the Next Generation Summer Music Camp in Joplin, Missouri. He is a passionate proponent of the new music of younger composers and is known for innovative programming. Press reviews have referred to performances as “bright, articulate, and beautifully balanced”, and “astonishing precision and polish; a joy from start to finish.” He holds a doctorate in orchestral conducting from Texas Tech University.
