NOTES OF THE NIGHT

With a record of 13-7-5 for 31 points, the Flyers are off to their best start through 25 games since the 2011-12 season, when they were 15-7-3 for 33 points through 25 games. The Flyers have not had more than 27 points through 25 games in any of the last seven seasons. They are seven points ahead of their pace from last season (11-12-2, 24 pts) and have given up 14 fewer goals than this point last season (2019-20 74, 2018-19 88).

The Flyers have had eight games go to a shootout this year, which leads the league. Their franchise record for shootouts in a season is 14, done in the 2014-15 season. They have already doubled the four shootouts they had all of last season.

Monday’s win over Vancouver marked the first time this season the Flyers have won a game that they trailed after the first period. They are 1-6-2 in that circumstance on the year.

The Flyers are leading the league in team faceoff percentage at 54.0 pct. They also led the league at the end of last season after going 54.7 pct on the year. Claude Giroux is 60.0 pct individually, while Sean Couturier is 58.6 pct. They are third and fifth in the league, respectively, among the 100 players who have taken at least 200 faceoffs. Couturier is 67.6 pct on power play draws (23 for 34) while Giroux is 68.2 pct in shorthanded situations (30 for 44).

The Flyers’ penalty kill has risen to third in the league at 85.9 percent. The PK was 75 pct (15 for 20) after the first seven games of the year. Since that point, from October 24 on, the kill is at 90 percent over 17 games (46 for 51). That ranks second in the NHL that timeframe.

Ivan Provorov has three power play goals in the month of November, which leads the league among defensemen this month. Provorov has 10 power play points on the season (4G, 6A), which leads the team and is tied for sixth among NHL defensemen. He has figured in 10 of the Flyers’ 18 PPGs this season.

Travis Konecny is just behind a point-per-game pace with eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points in 25 games. Konecny’s career high is 49 points, done last year.

Per NHL Stats & Information, Morgan Frost became the fifth Flyer in franchise history to score a goal in each of his first two NHL games, and first since David Laliberte did it in the 2009-10 season.
