His prose is smooth as silk and you don't realize you're being taken for a ride until you look back and smile. It's an easy to read book and probably would take one sitting undisturbed to take in the 174 pages. The story itself isn't a 'great' mystery but the wordsmithing is awesome.How the film is going to look on screen is going to be interesting. With Johnny Depp playing the main character should make the movie something to enjoy.If you are tempted to read it, get it now because availability will be short-lived to the average reader. Formålet er å undersøke forbindelsen mellom intertekstualiteten i romanen, og romanens egen struktur og tematikk. I Bonfigliolis roman kan man se stor forekomst av anakronistiske elementer, og romanens forhold til tid er sentralt. Jeg har foretatt en analyse av de intertekstuelle og anakronistiske elementene i romanen, for å se hvordan interaksjonen mellom forskjellige historiske perioder virker sammen innenfor romanens rammer. Romanen er sterkt knyttet til sin litterære tradisjon, og det har derfor vært vesentlig å undersøke romanen i lys av dette. Via dette perspektivet avslører jeg at Bonfiglioli skaper forventning til sitt litterære prosjekt ved å knytte romanen opp mot litteratur og kultur som har en klar tradisjon, og jeg viser hvordan han skaper, og bruker, denne forventningen som et aktivt virkemiddel i sin roman. Ved hjelp av Mikhail Bakhtins begreper om karnevalisme, dialogisme og polyfoni, belyser jeg romanens interaksjon med seg selv og annen litteratur.
