Public Register of Food Businesses in Middlesbrough Public Register of Food Businesses In Middlesbrough All food businesses located in Middlesbrough must be registered with Middlesbrough Council’s Public Protection Service. A food business includes any company, organisation or trader that provides food as part of its activities, for example; manufacturer, supplier, distributor, caterer, retailer, care establishment, school, college or other institutional catering, market stall and mobile vendor - whether or not the food provided is free or charged for. The term Food includes all consumable items from meals and snacks to confectionary and drinks. The register of food businesses is a public document. Only the business name and address and the category of food business are provided. Details of business ownership, management or contact details and other information that is subject to data protection laws are not provided.     Hot food takeaways: An evidence base review for Doncaster Clare Henry, Public Health Specialist Caroline Temperton, Public Health Co-ordinator Emma Wilson, Public Health Officer Doncaster Council Updated June 2019 2 Hot Food Takeaways – Doncaster 1. Introduction Background The purpose of this report is to provide an evidence base for the hot food takeaway policy in the emerging Local Plan. This report summarises the policy context and evidence which has informed the council’s decision to regulate takeaways through the planning system. It forms part of Doncaster Council’s wider strategic approach in promoting a healthy environment and addressing health concerns of the population, particularly with respect to obesity, in the borough. Over recent years, a whole systems approach to obesity and the benefits of healthy eating have attracted attention nationally and have highlighted the role that local authorities have in seeking positive solutions. This is outlined in the Healthy People, Healthy Places briefing Obesity and the Environment: Regulating the Growth of Fast Food Outlets (PHE 2014) where local authorities are urged to utilise the range of legislation and policy at their disposal to create places where people are supported to maintain a healthy weight. The existing planning policy on hot food takeaways is a Unitary Development Plan Policy (SH14). This existing policy focuses on managing environmental impacts such as noise, traffic, odour and refuse and protecting the amenity of nearby residents. It also has regard to the number and location of existing hot food takeaways and the cumulative effect of problems created as such. This and other development plan policies do not consider the health impacts associated with restaurants, drinking establishments and hot food takeaways.

The 21 local bus stands and the express coach stand in the Bus Station will be out of action from Monday 16 July onwards whilst the improvement works are carried out. The main concourse and shop units will remain open throughout the works, which are expected to take between four and six weeks to complete. When the Bus Station closes, the local bus stands and the express coach stand will be relocated to stops elsewhere in the town centre, as shown on the plan overleaf. A free shuttle bus linking these stops – Service 600 – will run every twelve minutes between 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Saturday, whilst the Bus A guide to your Station is closed.     EXECUTIVE MEMBER REPORT TO COUNCIL 26th November 2014 ENVIRONMENT Saltersgill Allotments Saltersgill Allotments are now self-managed and run by Saltersgill Allotment Association. The association will now be responsible for the management and lettings of allotments, rent collection and any repair works. The council is working on the interim hand over period to ensure successful completion. Winter Maintenance The first winter gritting took place on 5th November. The weather will continue to be monitored on a daily basis and gritting will take place when necessary. Green Flag Middlesbrough parks are to be judged for the National Green Flag award therefore representatives of Keep Britain Tidy will visit Middlesbrough's parks on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th November. The award is given to a park or open space that demonstrates it is well managed and meets the following criteria:- a welcoming place, healthy, safe and secure, clean and well maintained, has sustainability, looks after its conservation and heritage, has community involvement, markets itself well and has a 5 year plan. The peer group judging is given to towns that hold five or more Green Flag Parks, Middlesbrough is one of fourteen local authorities that participate in the peer group award. This is the second time that the town parks will have been judged collectively and if passed, the award will last for two years. The parks involved in the award are Stewart Park, Albert Park, Pallister Park, Thorntree Park, Hemlington Lake and Recreation Centre, Linthorpe Cemetery and Fairy Dell.     EXECUTIVE MEMBER REPORT TO COUNCIL Wednesday 6th September 2017 1. Area Care The standard of our grass cutting is important to how our town looks. Five new Ransome Parkway Meteor Triples cylinder grass cutters have been purchased to replace the old Kubota rotary ride of grass cutters. The new machines are able to cut larger areas and also produce a more refined cut than the rotary cutters. This will help raise standards across the town. The painting of the bollards and street furniture on the main routes into the town has progressed with the completion of Wilson Street, Exchange Square, and Queens Square. The flower troughs located in Exchange Square have been planted with dwarf conifers and alpine plants. Prior to the start of the new football season, a deep cleanse has been carried out along the route to the Riverside Stadium which involved mechanical sweeping of the area, litter picking, removal of debris from underneath and around barriers and weed spraying. 2. Recycling & Waste Services The Green Recycling Collections service has proved popular once again with tonnages in the first three months showing comparable tonnages to last year which was the highest we have seen since the service started. The collections have been extended this year with the last collections being on w/c 27th November 2017. 3. Albert Park The lake has now re-opened to public fishing after the recent visit from Centre for Environment Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS) following the outbreak of Koi Herpesvirus (KHV) in 2016. CEFAS are happy for the lake to remain open to the public and a further unannounced visit will take place later in the year.
