Hello Chorlton, Whalley Range and Fallowfield Neighbourhood Partnership, and welcome to neighbourhood update No.34. Covid-19 Update remains in a local lockdown, along with the rest of until 2 December, when we will move back into Tier 3. Here is a reminder of what that means:

 You must not mix with other households indoors or in private gardens  You can only meet people outdoors in open public spaces a in groups of up to six  Reduce your number of journeys and avoid travel outside of the area unless needed.

Manchester Community Response Hub The Community Response Hub offers support to Manchester's most vulnerable people to help them cope with the impacts of the coronavirus outbreak. The Hub is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and can help with:  Support to access food  Delivery of medication  Combating loneliness  Managing fuel top-up payments  Getting access to services online

Help with Debt, Bills and Borrowing and Warm homes this winter If you are not working or furloughed at the moment due to COVID-19 and need help with debt, bills or borrowing or turning your cold house into a warm home this winter visit www.manchester.gov.uk/helpinghands for advice and support.

Emergency Fund for Unpaid Carers The Fund is open for carers (aged 16+) to ensure the ongoing health and wellbeing of both the carer and the person who needs care. This includes those households where a child or young person is the carer.

The funding can be used for transport costs (including taxis) or fuel, furniture, emergency delivery of food and one-off practical costs to help with the caring role at this time. Carers can receive advice about accessing this financial support by ringing the Manchester Carers Contact Point: Mon-Fri 10am-4pm on 0161 543 8000 or their Young Carers Coordinator. GP Practices in Chorlton, Whalley Range and Fallowfield are OPEN If you are feeling unwell or are worried about an existing health condition then please contact your GP practice by telephone or via GP online services.

DO NOT VISIT YOUR SURGERY IF YOU HAVE SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19

SELF ISOLATE AT HOME AND TELEPHONE 119 TO ARRANGE A TEST.

Community Pharmacies, dentists and optician also remain open All primary care services, including pharmacies, dentists and opticians remain open throughout this lockdown period.

If you need to see a dentist or an optician please call your local service to find out how you can be seen.

Pharmacies are open, with covid-safe measures in place, to allow residents to collect prescriptions or to provide advice about minor health conditions.

DO NOT GO TO A PHARMACY IF:

 you have symptoms of coronavirus (a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste)  you live with someone who has symptoms

Get your medicines delivered or ask someone to collect them for you.

Residents that are ‘shielding’ should have received a letter from the NHS within which there is an outline around how they should access their medication (via the pandemic delivery service).

If you or someone you know has tested posted for covid-19, or are self-isolating because someone in your household has covid-19, and you have no support from family or friends, you should contact the Manchester City Council Community Response Helpline on 0800 234 6123 email: [email protected] or text: 078600 22876 (messages responded to by the next working day)

Protect yourself from flu

Flu vaccination is important because if you're at higher risk from coronavirus, you're also more at risk of problems from flu. If you get flu and coronavirus at the same time, research shows you're more likely to be seriously ill.

Who needs to get vaccinated?

Adults Children Support networks and staff Adults with long term All children and young people Carers of all ages both paid and health conditions with a long term health unpaid condition such as asthma or All domiciliary care staff diabetes. Pregnant women All NHS staff Adults 65 and over 2 and 3 years olds All social care staff Adults with a BMI of 40 or Primary school aged children Residential, nursing and care above home staff People living with Children in Year 7 Community pharmacy staff someone who's at high risk from coronavirus (on the NHS shielded patient

list).

Adults aged 50-64 may be eligible from November depending on vaccine supply.

Where can people get vaccinated?

Adults  All adults can get vaccinated by their GP or at a community pharmacy  In some areas District Nurses will work with GPs to support the vaccination of housebound patients  Pregnant women can be vaccinated by their midwife or GP

Children  Children with a health condition can be vaccinated by their GP  Primary aged children and Year 7s will be vaccinated at school  2 and 3 year olds need to book in with their GP to get vaccinated

Chorlton Bike Deliveries Chorlton Bikes Deliveries has a new website. For more information about the services offered, including their partner organisations, go have a look!

One Manchester – Community Soups Do you need funding for a community project, or have a group that needs help to continue? One Manchester’s Community Soups are now looking for applications from Fallowfield, Openshaw and . Applications are open until midday on Monday 30th November. Further information can be found here.

GMCVO – GM Walking Grants Between November 2019 and January 2021 GMCVO will be giving out a total of £225,000 in grants to VCSE organisations to get Walking.

They are supporting safe physical activity opportunities during Covid-19 restrictions as we know how important it is for everyone in Greater Manchester’s health and wellbeing. You can find GM Walking's latest advice on walking during Covid-19 here.

The grants are funded by Greater Manchester Moving who has received funding from Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership to support as many people as possible to walk regularly. They want to create a network of people and organisations that promote and support walking in creative ways.

Organisations can apply for up to £3,000 to encourage people who are usually less active to start or increase the amount they walk regularly whilst adhering to government social distancing guidelines. Applications for this round will close on Monday 21st December 2020 at noon.

If you want to apply for a grant, first of all you will need to register with GMCVO. Then you will need to fill in an online application form telling them about your organisation, what you would like to do, how you will keep people safe, what you would spend the funding on and who will benefit from your project.

The Place at Platt Lane – Festive Windows The Place at Platt Lane in Fallowfield would like to fill their windows with Festive cheer and are asking for children and adults alike to get creative by drawing, painting or making a Christmas picture. Your art work can be dropped off through the letterbox at The Place, sent by direct message on Twitter or emailed to [email protected]

Young Carers ‘Know Your Rights’ Booklet We are all responsible for ensuring young carers know what their rights are. Help to raise awareness – download and / or share the young carers ‘Know Your Rights’ booklet.

Kooth Kooth is a free online counselling and emotional wellbeing platform for young people aged 11-18. You can live chat with a qualified counsellor, access crisis information, self-help resources and chat forums. Find out more at their website, and share this information with young people in Chorlton, Whalley Range and Fallowfield.

Self-Help Services continue to operate as normal for support with mental health needs. All assessments and therapy sessions are currently conducted over the telephone and they will now be adding video calls to their options for support. All referrals can be made via professional, GP or self by calling 0161 226 3871 or through the website. An initial assessment appointment will be offered within 1-2 weeks of referral.
