Due to huge supply constraints in scheduled air transport and falling defense expenditures by industrialized countries, it is expected that the global aviation market will grow at a CAGR of more than 3.5% by 2023. In light of this estimation, global market activities are becoming more important than ever. With a reference of being a bridge between the Eastern and Western Aviation & Aerospace markets, The Eurasia Airshow will take place for the first time on 25-29 April 2018 in Antalya, gathering 300 aerospace giants from Turkey and 40 Nations, aerospace and aviation professionals with multinational aerobatic airshows and 80 aircraft displayed in the static area. Under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, the Eurasia Airshow has been accomplished with the support of the Ministry of National Defense, the Turkish Armed Forces, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, Undersecretariat for Defense Industries, Undersecretariat of Ministry of National Defense, General Directorate of State Airports Operations, General Directorate of Civil Aviation, and other institutions. For the first time, with the partnership of Turkish Airlines, the “Airlines CEO Summit” gathers the decision makers of commercial airlines. A conference on “Women in Air & Space Symposium” in which female pilots, entrepreneurs and academicians will participate will also be included in the organization for the first time as well. A platform composed of women with roles in aviation and space from all around the world is will be held through this conference that will last throughout the day. Nevertheless, we see that it always succeeds to protect its dynamism. Cross-border conflicts and competitions have enabled the discovery of geographies offering new opportunities in the aviation sector. In this context, Turkey has a strategic position in terms of geopolitics. In the aviation sector as well as in every trade field, it also serves as a bridge between the west and the east. Within the last 13 years, while the growth rate in the aviation sector was 5% throughout the world, it was 15% in Turkey and it has not yet reached the saturation point. Prof. MERT MORAL Keywords: pre-election polls, poll aggregation, poll of polls, survey error, Turkey The number of pre-election polls has considerably increased in the last decades. Such an increase is accompanied not only by methodological advances and obsta- cles but also by skepticism and criticism about the precision of the estimates and biases in favor of particular political parties or candidates. While scholarly interest in poll accuracy and quality has also grown considerably in many countries, schol- arly work on pre-election polls in Turkey are scarce. This thesis aims to fill this gap by examining a total of 374 pre-election polls conducted after the official an- nouncement of the general, presidential, and mayoral elections in Turkey that took place between 2011 and 2019. Using a revised CNN Transparency Index as a sur- vey quality assessment tool, I find that reporting practices, as well as the designs of the pre-election polls, do not follow scientific standards in the examined cases, and many polls have larger errors than their calculated margins of error (assuming random sampling). Prior work on the poll accuracy suggests that poll aggregation produces more precise estimates by increasing the sample size and reducing errors in different directions.

Design/methodology/approach – This reflective paper shares the COVID-19 lockdown experiences of the author with a group of elderly residents of a small community in Ankara, Turkey. Through semi- structured interviews and analysis, three overarching themes of the residents’ experience were identified: vulnerability, social isolation/loneliness and ageism. Findings – The elderly in the community are individuals who get their social interaction outside the home. As a result of the nearly three months of social isolation, they have experienced social disconnection and health problems, Originality/value – To the best of the author’s knowledge, this is the first attempt to give voice to the silenced group of elderly and share their thoughts and feelings during this difficult COVID-19 lockdown in Turkey. Abstract In this paper, we introduce a SEIR type COVID-19 model where the infected class is further divided into individuals in intensive care (ICUs) and ventilation units. The model is validated with the COVID-19 cases, deaths, and the number of patients in ICUs and ventilation units as reported by Turkey Department of Health for the period March 11 through May 30 when the nationwide lockdown is in order. COVID-19 interventions in Turkey are incorporated into the model to detect the future trend of the outbreak accurately. The lockdown is lifted on June 1, and the model is modified to include a time dependent transmission rate which is linked to the effective reproduction number Rt through basic reproduction number R0.
