2020-21 Golden LEAF Scholarship Program for Community College Transfer Students

Application Deadline: March 1, 2020

Award Amount: $3,000 a year for up to three years

The scholarship is funded by the Golden LEAF Foundation through a grant to the State Education Assistance Authority. The number of years of scholarship support depends on the degree sought and the number of credits transferred. Students who have already been awarded bachelor degrees at four-year colleges and universities are not eligible for this scholarship.

Award Criteria To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must: • Be enrolled during the 2019-2020 academic year at a NC community college • Be a NC resident for tuition purposes • Be a resident of a rural county that is economically distressed and/or tobacco dependent (see the attached eligible county list) • Enroll at any participating North Carolina college or university as a full-time, degree- seeking student in the Fall of 2020 (see the attached list of qualifying campuses) • Have an eligible Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students with EFCs up to 10,000 are eligible for scholarship consideration • Have a GPA of no less than 3.0

Application Requirements: • Submit a scholarship application-available online at CFNC.org/goldenleaf • Present a satisfactory record of academic achievement and community service. Extracurricular activities and information provided in a brief essay submitted by the applicant may be considered in determining recipients. • Submit the 2020-21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov by March 1, 2020
