On Friday, June 21st, 2019, the SkyWalker’s 30-year celebrations culminated in a grand celebration of all Skywalkers come and passed. The event was very well received and Skywalkers of all ages and generations showed up to reunite with their old classmates. It was a wonderful evening full of laughter, nostalgia, memories and fun; reflecting all the memorable moments shared in our classrooms. With the reunion in mind, Dr. Xenia created an alumni network and invited all her past students to join. XTMPI Connect is a Facebook community where XTMPI alumni are invited to network professionally or socially, where they can keep up to date with XTMPI news or share their memories and promote their own professional endeavors and businesses. XENIA TSOLAKI METAXA PRIVATE INSTITUTE ANNUAL NEWSLETTER XENIATakis TSOLAKI Moraitis METAXA PRIVATE Art INSTITUTE Exhibition Where learning becomes art Serendipity - Everything in life happens for a reason; A chance meeting years ago led to an extraordinary educational and charity event at the premises of XTMPI. Takis Moraitis, the critically acclaimed Greek artist, graced our cafeteria walls with his wonderful, breathtaking artwork during the months of May and June. Another Passionate about our school’s motto “Where learning becomes Headline an art”, Takis Moraitis chose Here our school to display his work, in order to give the chance to our SkyWalkers to enrich and cultivate their souls by developing an appreciation for fine art early on. On the opening of this wonderful exhibition, our First Lady, Mrs Andri Anastasiades honoured us by attending and praising our school. Over the course of the following months countless SkyWalkers and students all over Cyprus, visited our establishment to view the mesmerizing artwork, like the students from Christakio Elementary School, who even got a chance to speak with Dr. Xenia herself, who is an avid fan of the artist. 10% of all proceeds from the sales in the exhibition went to support the Limassol hematological department in our hospital. TedXLarnaca The Transformative Power of Songs What an honour for our headmistress Dr Xenia Tsolaki Metaxa to be selected as one of the few speakers of the first ever TedEx Larnaca Cyprus, held on March 30th 2019, with the theme of Metamorphosis. Her amazing presentation, titled “The Transformative Power of Songs” was based on her personal experiences as a learner and a teacher and teacher trainer, as well as on her acclaimed PhD research “The effect of authentic songs on vocabulary acquisition in the English Language Classroom”, SLU, USA, 2013. Following a very successful presentation at TED, Dr Metaxa, attended a teacher training seminar in Athens Greece where she trained 70 teachers to follow her teaching methodology. The Study is commissioned by the European Commission, Direc- torate Information Society, Unit A1 Audiovisual and Media Policies, Digital Rights, Task Force on Coordination of Media Affairs (Tender No. DG EAC 03/04). The above study aims at providing a complete picture of co-regulatory measures taken to date in the media sector in all 25 Member States and in three non-EU-countries, as well as of the research already done. The study will especially indicate the areas in which these measures mainly apply, their effects and their consistency with public interest objectives. In this con- text, the study will examine how best to ensure that the development of national co- and self- regulatory models does not disturb the functioning of the single market by re-fragmenting the markets.
