2/27/13 Brooks: Do Numbers Favor Buffs Down Final Stretch? - CUBuffs.com - Official Athletics Web site of the University of Colorado Jeremy Adams (31) wants to stay productive in CU's final four regular-season games. Photo Courtesy: Denis Concordel / www.widgic.com Brooks: Do Numbers Favor Buffs Down Final Stretch? Release: 02/26/2013 Courtesy: B.G. Brooks, Contributing Editor BOULDER - March is a couple of days away, which means Madness isn't far behind. 'Tis the time of season when college hoops and its soon-to-be-wacko fans can start paying serious attention to bracketology and RPIs - and if I have to footnote either term, you might as well stop reading here. Game Notes at Stanford After practice the other day, Colorado coach Tad Boyle conceded he pulls up bracketology on his desktop computer about "once a week - and I shouldn't admit that." He also "checks our RPI daily; that's a number I'm pretty dialed into." And why should Boyle forbid himself to peruse either? Although he's a strict one-game-at-a-time guy, he's got a little more invested in Buffs basketball than you or me. But like you and me, he's keenly interested in various seers' mid-March forecasting and where his team might land. "It's part of the world we live in," Boyle explained. "I don't focus on it, I can promise you that. When I come to practice I don't think about it. I don't think about it before I go to bed.

  • Jazz Three-Point Barrage Beats Hornets
Established 1961 Sport WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2021 Jazz three-point barrage beats Hornets Wizards beat Lakers in OT • Mavs, Suns win LOS ANGELES: Donovan Mitchell had 23 points and eight assists as the NBA-leading Utah Jazz rained a franchise-record 28 three-pointers in a 132-110 rout of the Charlotte Hornets on Monday. Joe Ingles and Georges Niang scored 21 points apiece as the Jazz got a superb offensive performance from their bench to win for the 21st time in their last 23 games and improve to 25-6 overall. Jordan Clarkson (five threes), Mike Conley (four threes), Mitchell (three threes) and Royce O’Neale (two threes) contributed to the Jazz’s domination from beyond the arc. Conley also had 15 points. Gordon Hayward scored 21 points but had to leave the game in the fourth quarter with a hand injury as the Hornets’ six-game road trip got off to a rocky start. Rookie LaMelo Ball also scored 21 points as the Hornets kept it close until the fourth quarter when the Jazz seized command. In Texas, Tim Hardaway scored a team-high 29 points as the Dallas Mavericks delivered one of their best defensive games of the season, by limiting the Memphis Grizzlies to just 39 percent shooting on Monday. Luka Doncic scored 21 points and Jalen Brunson chipped in 19 as the Mavericks returned from an unexpected eight-day break to post a 103-92 victo- ry at the American Airlines Center. The Mavericks had not played since February 14 after a devastating winter storm wreaked havoc on the Dallas area and forced two postponements.

  • Lakers Snap 4-Game Losing Streak
ARAB TIMES, SUNDAY, MARCH 28, 2021 16 Brazilian referee Igor Benevenuto works during the Brazilian champion- ship soccer game between Palmeiras and Bahia in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Nov 8, 2019. When the coronavirus pandemic forced Brazilian soccer to take a break, Benevenuto took one of the few jobs that were still in high demand in his countryside city of Sete Lagoas, as a nurse at a public hospital filled with COVID-19 patients. (AP) Sports Latest sports scores at — http://sports.arabtimesonline.com Lakers snap 4-game losing streak Griffin makes winning return to Detroit LOS ANGELES, March 27, (AP): Montrezl Har- rell had 24 points and 10 rebounds and the Lakers rallied in the second half to beat Cleveland and snap a four-game losing streak on Friday night. It was the Lakers’ first win since both LeBron James and Anthony Davis were injured and out of the lineup. James has missed four games after spraining his right ankle on March 20 against Atlanta, and Davis hasn’t played since mid- February due to a right calf strain. Larry Nance Jr. had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Cleveland. Nets 113, Pistons 111 In Detroit, James Harden scored 44 points and Blake Griffin added 17 in his return to Detroit, lifting the Brook- lyn Nets to a 113-111 victory over the Pistons. Harden was back after missing a game because of neck soreness, He added 14 rebounds and eight assists. Brooklyn was still without Kevin Du- rant (left hamstring strain) and Kyrie Irving (personal reasons). Griffin spent three-plus years with the Pistons, but he reached a buyout agreement with Detroit earlier this BASKETBALL month and went to the contending Nets.
