Saint John’s University (SJU) is located in Collegeville, Minnesota, just an hour northwest of the Minneapolis- St. Paul metropolitan area and 20 minutes from St. Cloud with a population of more than 150,000. ATHLETICS

The Johnnies compete in 12 intercollegiate sports at the NCAA Division III level, traditionally placing among the top teams in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). Best known for its winning tradition on the gridiron, the Saint John's football program has the best winning percentage in NCAA Division III history and has won 31 MIAC conference football titles and four football national championships. The new head football coach will replace John Gagliardi, the winningest coach in history, and the first active coach to be inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame. Saint John’s traditionally has the no. 1 football fan following in NCAA Division III Athletics. 1

SAINT JOHN’S VALUED FOOTBALL PHILOSOPHIES

SJU values a high quality co-curricular experience for its football student-athletes. SJU values success and winning, yet does not compromise its academic and standards of personal conduct for success on the field. The football program values the MIAC and its members, NCAA philosophies for Division III, and a dedicated coaching staff. The SJU football roster includes up to 180 student-athletes.

HEAD FOOTBALL COACH QUALIFICATIONS

SJU seeks a respected Leader, Mentor, Motivator and Role Model of young men to serve as the next . Successful candidates will demonstrate passion for the game, a winning spirit, desire to take Johnnie football to the next level of competition in the NCAA Division III, appreciation for Benedictine values and understanding of how the values apply to the football program.

Key qualifications include:  Baccalaureate degree (Masters preferred)  Proven football coaching experience (head coaching preferred)  Proven recruitment experience  Highly effective communication skills  Strong financial and talent management skills, including supervisory experience  Computer literacy  Knowledge of the mission of the MIAC and NCAA Division III compliance requirements  Knowledge of and network within the MN High School football community  A willingness to be visible on campus and in the community positively representing SJU

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

Run a successful and responsible program that reflects positively on the University.

Oversee football recruiting in collaboration with the Admission Office. Recruit and meet with all prospective student-athletes who express interest in football.

Ensure the eligibility of student-athletes and promote a great co-curricular experience.

Oversee budget management for the football program, including equipment purchases, distribution, inventory, and repairs.

Negotiate contracts for practice; schedule practice and game times.

Hire and supervise qualified full-time and part-time coaching staff.

Collaborate with SJU staff and media representatives to produce positive public relations both internally and externally.

Maintain current knowledge of MIAC and NCAA Division III compliance, and follow the rules set forth by these associations.

Evaluate coaching personnel, student-athlete personnel, and the overall program; effectively recommend changes for continuous improvement and success.
