The 2006 Visit Japan Campaign's Best Japanese Souvenir Contest was held on March 28 by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in collaboration with the Visit Japan Campaign Headquarters.

The winners from all three categories are listed below. Tourists can purchase these award winning souvenirs at the shop called "Sakura" in Narita Airport (Terminal 1&Terminal 2) or at the shop called "Cosmos" in Kansai Airport.

Some of the largest dinosaurs from all over the world will be on display at the Makuhari Messe in Prefecture (1 hr. from Tokyo) from July 15 through September 10, 2006. The highlight of this exposition is a "Supersaurus" dinosaur specimen exceeding 33 meters (108 feet) in length.

A special summer exhibition entitled "Japanese Ancient Glass" is scheduled from July 15 through August 20, 2006. This exhibition examines how this transparent medium was perceived throughout the ages in Japan since it was first introduced in the Yayoi period (300 B.C.-300 A.D.). It also explores how and for what purposes this precious material was used.
