Even if a player's shot isn't falling on a particular day, he will receive a good rating just by taking the shots, grabbing the rebounds, etc. These ratings tend to be more consistent from game to game than the Performance Index since (a) a player's energy is something he can control to a large extent, unlike whether his shot goes in and (b) good players tend to be in the middle of the action game after game. To keep one of the first ratings from Preseason RivalsHigh100: Teams 35-31 having a disproportional effect, the two ratings are calibrated. And all the ratings are adjusted for Adidas Nations: Sunday's News and Notes (approximate) minutes played. Preseason RivalsHigh100: Teams 45-41 A "pace factor" is also thrown into the equation to ensure that players aren't at a disadvantage when Resources: they play on teams that play at a slower pace with fewer possessions.
