It started at the Airlie Street Hall where everyone was welcomed by the minister then a hymn was sung. From there the procession gathered at the square for the Palm Sunday Story Bible Reading. The next stop was beside the burn on the Bamff Road where another hymn was sung. The last leg of the procession took the adults into the church. The children entered the church during the first hymn waving their palm branches. These they gave to the minister who in turn gave them a palm cross. At the close of worship everyone in church received a palm cross from the Primary children. The Primary collected Easter Eggs that day to give to children in hospital and the residents in Belmont .Due to the generosity of the congregation over 80 eggs were collected. Needless to say they brought lots of happiness to the recipients. Procession up to church . A num- ber of young people have taken advantage of the tremendous winter season and fantastic conditions on the slopes throughout Scot- land. Almost all of the young people who have taken part in the club came with no experience of snowboarding or skiing but have persevered to become competent, safe and enthusiastic ambassadors for all things winter sports related. Regular trips have been offered to young people from Alyth and the surrounding area to get them to and from Glenshee most week- ends. Young people who opted for snowboarding and skiing have taken advantage of discounts offered by local business man Cally Gordon to hire or buy kit, AYP offered free transportation, hints and tips, service and repair of equipment and have developed new skills, self-confidence, esteem and increased activity and fitness levels. The participants of the AYP Snow Sports Club have endured driving snow, high winds, ice and blocked roads on occasion but were rewarded on the Easter Holidays with bluebird skies, great snow and wide, uncluttered pistes at Nevis Range and Glencoe on their 2 day tour of Scottish West Coast Resorts. All of the young people were exhausted after 2 days pushing themselves to develop, improve and motivate each other, not to mention the 'Goggle-Tan' they all got on their return. I am extremely pleased to see the young people progress from beginners to intermediates within one season, behave as perfect ambassadors of Alyth and the surrounding area when visiting other areas and demonstrate a willingness to try something new, learn different skills and still be hungry for more. Many of the young people have indicated a desire to sit their BASI Instructors Course next season. Members of the AYP Hub drop in centre played in a 5-a-side tournament held at Bells Sport Centre in Perth where they won some games and lost some games. The Hubsters are looking to hold their own version of a 5-a-side tournament for local young people during the summer holi- days. Hubsters also took the opportunity to travel to McDiamird Park to watch the Scotland v England U18s football match, wearing Scotland shirts, flags and enjoying a pie at half time. Shame about the result (Scotland lost) but everyone had a good time for the last night of the holi- days. This is the nominated charity of my employers the Royal Mail Group. The challenge is that we climb Ben Nevis, Mount Snowdon and Scafell Pike. The team doing the challenge is Kevin Smith, Brian Provan, Iain Coull and Derrick Tipple. We also have great pleasure in being joined by our driver Angus Smart. We have been heavily supported by our depot Parcelforce Perth and for every pound we raise they will match it. Our goal is to raise £3500 which would be doubled to £7000. We have been very well supported on our sponsor forms but also have the online link, so please if you can go to the site and make a donation it does make a difference. Just over a year ago I was under the doctor and was sent for routine checks to find out my cholesterol and sugar levels, they were extremely dangerous and I was encouraged to join the Alyth Health Centres Healthy Living plan. This I did and thanks to Nurse Carol Smith’s encouragement and guidance I set a plan to lose seven stones in weight.
